WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney predicts the Gervonta Davis-Leo Santa Cruz fight. The undefeated champion gives his opinion on how the fight will pan out when the two meet on October 31. Speaking to Marcos from Fight Hub TV on YouTube, Devin Haney was asked what he thought of the fight. The champion says, “I think that it’s a good fight. I like Leo Santa Cruz a lot. I just think that he’s a smaller guy. He’s a lot smaller.” He then goes on to say, “I think Tank is just too big, too strong for him”.
Though he respects Santa Cruz and rates him as a fighter, he doesn’t think he has enough to get the victory over Gervonta Davis.
Haney gives Santa Cruz the respect that he may not be getting prior to this fight. He says, “I take nothing away from Leo Santa Cruz. He’s a true champion. What is he like, 4 division world champion or something like that? So I don’t take anything away from him, but I just think Tank is too much”.

To the question of him being Davis’ ‘Kryptonite’, he says, “Of course. That’s for anybody. I think I’m the best fighter in the world. I feel like I will beat anyone in the lightweight division and that’s why I feel like they don’t want to face me”. Thus, showing his confidence in himself to be able to cut it against the best fighters in the world.

The WBC champ goes on to talk about the fight with Lopez. To the question whether he wants that fight to settle the belt situation, he says, “Yea. And I feel like they don’t want to settle it. I feel like Top Rank and him don’t want to settle it”. He goes on to say, “They don’t want to know the mystery, they don’t want to take the chance with me”. His reasoning for this comment is that he feels Top Rank think Lopez would lose that fight and the belts.
Haney himself will return to the ring on November 7 against Yuriorkis Gamboa. If he wins that fight, we will surely see him fight one of the top names in the division. Whether it is Lopez or Davis, we can be sure a big fight is on the Horizon. Haney himself is ready and willing to make those fights happen, which is a good sign for fans. Thus, this makes the lightweight division one of the most exciting right now.
