Claressa Shields stands as a titan in the world of women’s boxing, her prowess echoing through three weight classes where she has clinched multiple titles. Her sharp acumen has led her to amass a substantial fortune of $5 million, according to FS MMA. She didn’t shy away from sharing this achievement in her latest tweet on X, proudly flaunting her assets and accomplishments.
However, the boxing community is tight-knit, and it didn’t take long for former undisputed heavyweight champion and boxing legend Lennox Lewis to step in. He quickly offered ‘GWOAT’ Shields some sage investment advice, reminding her that true wealth extends beyond the ring and into wise financial planning.

On July 23, the undisputed queen hopped on X to claim that she never tries to look at how much money others are making. Yet in the same breath, she unfurled the tapestry of her own burgeoning riches. “I don’t count nobody pockets…Just know I bought my mom a house, 2 cars, I own 3 cars, my house, 2 other houses & my GWOAT chain is worth a million but I dropped a 100k on it! I make money outside of boxing, acting, endorsements, sponsorships & just my brand. Ain’t no hate,” wrote Shields. While most details about her investments are private, she bought a home in 2020 while celebrating her 25th birthday. The female boxing champion also signed a deal with Stage Front VIP in May last year.

She further added that her source of income transcends the boxing ring and into acting, endorsements, sponsorships, and her brand. Sometime after this tweet, on July 24, Lewis chimed in with his wise words of advice. The former world champion wrote, “Real estate is always a solid investment. Cars and chains… not so much. Choose assets over liabilities and you will always do well”.

Seeing this response from Lewis, Shields responded by respecting Lewis’ feedback on her portfolio, but claimed, “I see how you are looking at it…I’m far from broke, and do great investments,” adding there’s “nothing wrong with treating yourself” once a while. But did you know, that besides the houses and cars, Shields also has a street named after her?

Claressa Shields Street in Flint, Michigan
Back in June 2022, Spencer Street, the street across from Berston Field House on the north side of Flint, was given the honorary name of ‘Claressa Shields Street’ by the city after Shields achieved undisputed status in two weight classes simultaneously. The sign with the new name was revealed in a block party ceremony on Juneteenth, where she said, “This is one of the greatest things to ever happen to me”.

The gesture from the city was extra special for Shields as the street was where she grew up living with her grandmother. So, she added, “I think that is a big deal.” Shields’ promoter Dmitriy Salita was also present who said, “Claressa’s street naming is quite incredible. It shows what kind of role model and American hero she is”. It’s been a while since then, but the Claressa Shields brand keeps growing as she heads into her heavyweight bout against Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse later this month.
Despite Lennox Lewis’ advice, Claressa Shields seems to be doing well for herself both in the ring and outside of it. As she is about to take on yet another challenge to win a belt in a fourth weight class, let us know what you think about Shields’ epic run in the sport!
