Did Gervonta Davis just get exposed? After watching the fight and seeing the final scorecards, something certainly seemed off about the outcome. Lamont Roach Jr. gave him a run for his money, pushing Davis harder than many expected an underdog like Lamont Roach Jr to. Fans and analysts were quick to voice their opinions on the result. Even Milwaukee Bucks point guard
Damian Lillard took to X and posted, “I ain’t gone lie. Ima big Tank fan but I thought Roach edged that one out bro.”
However, the scorecards came back as a majority decision draw, with Glenn Feldman and Steve Weisfeld each scoring it 114-114, while Eric Marlinski gave Gervonta Davis a slight edge at 115-113. But in the grand scheme of things, it didn’t change much. Gervonta Davis’ once flawless record now had a blemish, courtesy of the underdog Lamont Roach Jr. But what was alarming was the revelation Roach made in the post-fight press conference.

Lamont Roach Jr. reveals his conversation with Tank
In the post-fight press conference, a reporter asked the WBA super featherweight champion his thoughts on the scorecards. What followed was a shocking revelation. The caption of the clip posted read, “Lamont Roach reveals what Gervonta Davis said to him in the 12th round of their controversial draw.” Roach recalled a moment in the 12th round, before the scorecards were announced, where Davis was talking trash, saying, “You ain’t gonna win.” Roach, confused, asked him what he meant by that. Davis then replied, “They ain’t gonna give it to you.” Reflecting on this interaction, the 29-year-old admitted, dejectedly, “That’s how boxing works. Sad to say.”

However, ‘The Reaper’ revealed he wasn’t “totally upset” about the outcome. He admitted that when you fight someone as big as Gervonta Davis, there’s always the chance that the judges might lean in favor of the superstar. But he didn’t let that get to him. Roach initially thought it might be a split decision in his favor. But when the score 114-114 was revealed, he knew he didn’t win. Even though he’s a bit disappointed, he’s still optimistic and open to a rematch, saying, “It’s okay, we could run it back.”
Even though it seemed like Lamont Roach Jr. was not that upset with the decision, it wasn’t the same case with one of the elite boxers.

Normally, when a fighter’s hand and knee touch the canvas, it’s ruled a knockdown by the referee. But in this case, referee Steve Willis didn’t make that call. He instead issued a warning, and the fight continued without it being counted on the scorecards either. Even Claressa Shields, agreeing with Bud’s post, remarked, “Now this is a fact!”
