The year 2025 has kicked off with a whirlwind for Gervonta Davis. With all the noise around him, it seemed like Davis had more drama off the ring than inside it. But, despite the controversies, what’s inevitable is his upcoming bout with Lamont Roach Jr., scheduled for March 1st at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Alongside this headliner, three other thrilling undercard fights will take place, including a WBC Super Lightweight title clash between Alberto Puello and Sandor Martin.
Though Davis has been embroiled in several personal and professional squabbles recently, Lamont Roach Jr. has stayed largely out of the spotlight. However, as the showdown inches closer, Roach has started to share his thoughts on the fight and the man he’s about to face.

Lamont Roach Jr. talks training and clashes ahead of big fight
A few days ago, Lamont Roach Jr. sat down for an interview with Johnny Padro of Fight HubTV. During the conversation, Roach shared insights into how his training camp was progressing and expressed his excitement about fighting on a big stage. But the interview took a sudden turn when the conversation shifted to Davis’ controversial comments about Terence Crawford’s wife. When asked about the former three-division world champion’s harsh tweets, Roach’s tone became more serious.

He admitted, “I mean, obviously, it looks like they’re on a personal level of disrespect. But that’s their business, not mine.” Roach then made it clear that while he knew Davis outside of the ring, he wasn’t one to get involved in personal issues. “It’s an issue on both ends. I hope they stay away from each other, but it ain’t got nothing to do with me,” Lamont Roach explained, showing a surprising level of maturity in his response. He also acknowledged that he didn’t know Crawford personally but understood the dynamics of a personal conflict when it came to online attacks.
See, here’s the difference. While the Baltimore native was throwing personal insults at Bud Crawford’s family, the 25-1, 10 KO boxer did not fail to maintain a diplomatic stance. And it only suggests that he understands how important it is to stay above petty personal feuds before the big showdown. Anyway, for those who missed the context of the reference drawn, here is the story.

Gervonta Davis’ feud with Terence Crawford
It all started with the Ring Magazine Event last weekend in London. With the notable absence of Gervonta Davis, for which he was angry at the organizers, Terence Crawford poked fun, noting, “I see somebody mad they weren’t invited to the @ringmagazine gala. 😂😂.”
This light-hearted jab from Crawford quickly escalated when Davis retaliated with personal attacks aimed at Crawford’s family. In his now-deleted tweet, the 30-year-old made the situation personal by attacking Crawford’s family, including his wife, Alindra Person, and even referencing his children in an off-colored remark.
