Jake Paul and KSI have been in talks to fight for the longest time. However, the bout has not come to fruition primarily because the negotiations happening behind closed doors have not been prolific. Each party is blaming the other and recently the manager of KSI could not help himself but expose Paul for breaking a verbal agreement.
Mams Taylor is the co-president of Misfits Boxing and is also KSI’s manager. He revealed that the terms of the bout were agreed upon by both sides at one point. However, after Paul’s first-ever defeat against Tommy Fury in February, the former decided to breach their verbal agreement.

There is a substantial weight difference between KSI and Paul. Reportedly, there was a tussle to have a rehydration clause in the contract for Paul. And there were other deliberations on weight categories proposed to Jake Paul for the fight. In a video posted by @CrossoverXtra on Twitter, Taylor comprehensively explained the negotiations that was happening out of public view.

He stated, “Jake Paul said, 185 or 190 whatever. I said we go 170 then, we concluded that 180 would work. Yes, we put in a rehydration that he agreed to. Then, Jake wants to fight 177 and a half with no rehydration let’s run that. So we gave them options and he said ok yes.”
At this point, it appeared that the fight was as good as done. However, in a recent turn of events, Paul deviated from the agreement. Reflecting on the same, Taylor stated, “Nakisa calls me after the Tommy fight, Jake does not want to fight KSI anymore.” Safe to say that the fight is now off the cards as Paul is set to face Nate Diaz.
Taylor reveals the conflict between MISFITS and MVP
KSI and Paul both have their own boxing promotions. Accommodating both promotion interests in itself adds to the complexities in negotiations. Reflecting on the same, in the same interview, Taylor stated, “I said you take the co-main event, and we take rest of the card as Mifits. And you the co-main event as MVP. Or Misfits will take the co-main event and you take rest of the card as MVP.”
