At the WBC convention last night, ‘ The Cat’ Usyk brought in the WBC belt he wishes to take away from ‘The Gypsy King’. With a glee of happiness and excitement on his face, the fighter caressed the belt that he vehemently wanted to bag. His appearance at the convention comes after Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, hinted that the much-awaited title unification clash could happen in February or March 2024. The revelation has nudged the boxing community to chime in for the early predictions. One fan suggested that Usyk getting to see the WBC belt at the convention was the closest he’d get to it.

Another user, however, sided with the Ukrainian fighter for his bout. They predicted the victory in his favor.

Another user opined that if Fury brought the same performance he did against Ngannou, the fight would be in Usyk’s favor. On the 28th of October, Gypsy King entered into a fight against the debutante boxer, Francis Ngannou. Despite his fervent efforts, he managed to win the fight only through a split decision. It was a victory that was heavily criticized, since he was a world champion fighting against someone who’s never boxed before.

Then came a user who boldly declared Oleksandr Usyk as the ultimate ruler of the heavyweight class.

While the Fury-Usyk fight could be the peak of their fighting careers, the latter has hinted at the knell of it.

Will Usyk retire after the Fury fight?

Usyk has announced his ambitious plan to beat Tyson Fury and secure the undisputed heavyweight championship in their upcoming February bout. Following this potential victory, Usyk revealed his intention to retire from boxing and pursue a football career. Expressing his love for the sport, Usyk mentioned that he’s signed a contract with FC Polissya Zhytomyr, the top football team in Ukraine.

This isn’t the first time he has hinted at his passion for football. He has previously claimed to have entered into an official agreement with the club after playing in a friendly match in July. The contract was reported to last for a year, and Usyk was expected to assume the No.17 jersey for the team. Polissya earned a promotion to Ukraine’s top football league last year. It currently stands just one point behind the league leaders, Dnipro-1. Usyk’s potential transition from boxing to football adds a unique dimension to his sporting career.

The spotlight now favors Usyk. After his fight against Fury takes its course, the sporting world will turn its attention to his next stint in the realm. Will he win against Fury? Early predictions suggest so. But Fury has never been one to let predictions flourish. A fight for the books? We will be covering the clash closely. Stay tuned for more updates on this front.
