2023 has Naoya Inoue written all over it. Come the 26th of December, he will take this call further. In his fight against Marlon Tapales at the Ariake Arena of Koto-Ku in Japan, Inoue eyes the unification of all super bantamweight titles. In his efforts to do so, the fighter has made stringent efforts to stand the test of his 37-fight-winner opponent. His sculpted physique demonstrates that.

Inoue has become the face of his weight class. In the last few years, with each fight he has dominated, he has pushed his name as a rising champion, posited perhaps to see his name among the legends. This assumption was strengthened in July this year. His successful WBC and WBO title defense against Stephen Fulton was a triumph like no other. Now, with his second fight of the year almost here, Inoue has convinced his fans that he’s all set to mark another victory.

Taking to his Instagram, Inoue posted a picture of his ripped physique, captioning it, “2 WEEKS UNTIL THE FINALS…Made it through another day. Not even a millimeter of crust.” His physique impressed his fans, yes, but deep down, confidence emerged too: Inoue is here to stay, and with each fight he undertakes, he solidifies his hold in the sport.

Most publications have projected the Japanese fighter as a leader in the pound-for-pound charts. A fan approving of such lists, wrote, “P4P no. 1. Who says otherwise either smokes crack or willfully blind.”

Another fan already saw him as the champion. They wrote, “Looking forward to the champ.”

An enthusiast saw him as the King of the sport. They stated, “king of boxing is ready lets go champ.”

A fan congratulated Naoya Inoue (25-0) for whatever he’s achieved so far in his career. He wrote, “Well done Monster, not even a millimeter of a millimeter, I can say it’s awesome.”

Another user however was less appreciative, predicting the bout in the Philipino fighter’s favor. They wrote with a possible typo, “Taparez gonna eat you up.”

Marlon Tapales is not one to concede without putting in a hard fight. And with the biggest fight of his career inching closer, he seems more confident than ever.

This push of confidence is coupled with the intense training he’s taken. Predicting the Inoue clash in his favor, Tapales remarked, “I’m confident not because of the weight and division but because of my training. That’s why I know I have an advantage against Inoue.” It is reported that he has been camping in Baguio City for the past several weeks in preparation for the big fight.
