Gervonta Davis and WBA super featherweight champion Lamont Roach Jr. are in talks for a mega rematch in June. This comes after the controversial draw during their first fight on March 1 in New York. However, Keyshawn Davis doesn’t want the rematch to happen quite yet. Why? He seems to have a better plan in mind.
‘The Businessman’ is coming off his dominant win over Denys Berinchyk, in which he acquired the WBO strap while showcasing his overwhelmingly superior skills. However, the 26-year-old isn’t satisfied with just one belt—he’s setting his sights on the division’s biggest challenge. More than that, the WBO lightweight champion seems to have a series of fights in mind that could redefine the lightweight landscape.
Speaking to The Danza Project on YouTube, the Norfolk native opened up about a potential clash with Lamont Roach Jr. “Me and Lamont Roach stylistically is the hottest fight in the weight division, for sure,” he said. Davis praised Roach for earning his respect with his performance against the WBA lightweight champion, making it clear he’d welcome the matchup.

But that’s only part of the bigger picture. Later in the podcast, Keyshawn Davis outlined a plan: he believes he and Roach should face off before any rematch with Gervonta Davis takes place. Meanwhile, he suggested that ‘Tank’ Davis and Shakur Stevenson finally settle their long-awaited rivalry. “If I have my way, Shakur [and Tank should] fight. Y’all go ahead and do that. Let me fight Lamont. Y’all don’t rematch just yet,” he said.
“However it go between me and Lamont or Shakur and Tank… y’all still can rematch,” the WBO champion added. “That’s two mega fights. That’s a mega fight for Gervonta and that’s another big fight for Lamont. And then Lamont still can go off and then fight Shakur.” It’s a solid plan—and there’s no doubt Stevenson would jump at the chance to make it happen.
Despite that, the chances of such fights happening are sadly low. However, Keyshawn Davis is not alone in wanting Davis to fight Stevenson.

“That would be dope. If Tank was not so cocky to be on a Terence Crawford undercard, that would be dope. But I don’t see Tank taking a backseat to any fighter because he will think it’s the Tank show,” Crawford said. However, following Crawford’s suggestion, Stevenson dismissed the idea, insisting that any clash with Davis deserves to headline.
