“He’s not even worth mentioning.” That’s what Gervonta Davis once posted on X—before quietly deleting it. But from Keyshawn Davis‘ heart? Oh, that quote lives rent-free. See, last year, even though Keyshawn Davis was stacking up wins, people still doubted him. He didn’t really have that statement moment to silence the critics. But all that changed on Valentine’s fight night in February. That’s when he came through with a huge fourth-round KO win over Ukrainian Denys Berinchyk and claimed the WBO Lightweight World Title. No more question marks—Keyshawn Davis was officially a world champion.
Fast-forward four months, and the newly crowned king is already gearing up for another war. This time? He’s stepping in the ring to defend his title with a familiar face—Edwin De Los Santos, the same guy his big bro Shakur Stevenson fought back in 2023. Now, if you’ve seen Shakur Stevenson’s fight, you know he’s a master of the art of defense. He went the full 12 rounds with De Los Santos in what was, let’s be real, a pretty technical and slow-paced bout. But here’s where it gets interesting: you just know Stevenson’s gonna pass that knowledge down. Every movement, every setup, every misstep—he’s probably breaking it all down for Keyshawn Davis before fight night on June 7.

Keyshawn Davis wants to close the show, fast!
After hosting a press conference at the Attucks Theatre in Norfolk, Virginia, a few days ago, to officially announce the June 7 showdown, The Businessman recently took a moment to chop it up with fans. That’s when he dropped a massive update. Keyshawn Davis pulled up in a crisp white tee, blue jeans, black shades, his signature “Businessman” chain shining, and a slick watch to match. Casual vibes all around. He was out there signing autographs, snapping pics with fans, and just soaking up the hometown love. And yeah—when someone asked what round he’s calling the knockout? Keyshawn didn’t hesitate.
“6, 7, or 8,” he said, cool as ever. You might be thinking, ‘Wait! why’s a knockout artist taking that long to close the show? But don’t sleep on Edwin De Los Santos. The Dominican southpaw isn’t some easy target—this is the guy who handed both Jose Valenzuela and Luis Acosta their first losses. He’s got real power and experience.

Just as fans were buzzing about that KO prediction, someone in the crowd tossed out, “They said 3.” Keyshawn Davis didn’t flinch. He grinned and teased: “I’ll take that too.” That kind of confidence? It’s backed by more than just talk. Promoter Bob Arum has been hyping Keyshawn Davis ever since his silver medal run at the Tokyo Olympics. And it’s not just because of the resume—it’s the talent. After the Norfolk native cleaned up his act (remember, his win over Nahir Albright was overturned due to a positive marijuana test), he’s gone 4-0 ever since. Clean. Focused. Dialed in.
Even Arum sees it. In his own words? “In my estimation Keyshawn Davis is this generation’s Sugar Ray Leonard. He’s that good.” But here’s the thing: Just because Shakur Stevenson has already faced Edwin De Los Santos and now Keyshawn Davis is stepping into the ring with him, doesn’t mean the two are suddenly at odds. In fact, it’s far from it. Why?

The cool part? Keyshawn Davis revealed that he and Shakur Stevenson have already talked about the fight. “Like Shakur giving me advice of who I should spar and all that type of sh-t for this fight,” Davis shared. And he made it clear—Shakur’s not taking it personally. “He’s not taking it personal, bro. It’s nothing but another fight, another opponent,” he concluded. That’s real support from one champion to another.
When asked if he called Shakur Stevenson to discuss fighting De Los Santos, Keyshawn Davis laughed it off. “No, I didn’t call him, bro. We real ni— Like, we don’t care about that, bro. Like, ni—- out here got to fight. We fighting for a living, my ni—. So, we going to pick what’s the best fight is possible for the both of us.”

In fact, when the De Los Santos fight was announced, Shakur Stevenson didn’t flinch. He’s himself got a fight with William Zepeda in July, but he still sent Keyshawn Davis a text saying, “Yo, you should spar him.” The WBO Lightweight champion pointed out that fans and media don’t always get the kind of bond they have. “But y’all don’t understand that,” he said.
