Mike Perry is weeks away from his fight against Jake Paul at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. However, fans think the former UFC fighter and BKFC champion is not ready for the bout after Most Valuable Promotions shared ‘Platinum’ Perry’s training footage on social media today! Perry was never even supposed to fight Paul.
The mixed martial artist came in as a last-minute replacement for Mike Tyson, who suffered a stomach ulcer a while back. The Paul-Tyson fight is now pushed back to November 15, and Paul will look to keep his fans entertained in the meantime with a fight against Perry. But since the clip surfaced online, many have questioned whether Perry is truly ready.

After Jake’s MVP shared the clip in question with the caption reading, “Mike Perry in the lab at @teknique_boxing ahead of Jake Paul fight on Saturday July 20th…”, Perry dropped in the comment section to write, “I’m gonna make all the Lil JP fan girls cry in July”. Meanwhile, in the clip, Perry can be seen doing some pad work and core strengthening exercises.

Despite having a wealth of experience in the octagon and mixed martial arts in general, the upcoming fight will be his first boxing match. Also, he has won his first five fights in the BKFC, yet seeing the training footage, fans were convinced Jake Paul will make quick work of Perry when they get in the ring on July 20th.
Fan asks Perry to keep his chin down
Since Perry is doing great in the bare knuckle boxing scene, fans were expecting a higher threshold of boxing skills from the Flint, Michigan native. One user pointed out a problem with Perry’s plank, writing, “He not even doing a plank right”. Planks are often done with the back parallel to the ground, but Perry had his hips raised way too high.

Someone else was disappointed with Perry’s pad work, as the user wrote, “Damn, I thought Perry boxing skills would be better”. ‘Platinum’ has never fought a true boxing match, so some lapses are to be expected.
Another user compared Perry’s pad work with their own. “That mitt work looked like me when I first started boxing”, wrote the user. Since Perry hasn’t boxed before either, he is bound to be a little rough around the edges.
The next user has some valuable advice for Perry, which many new boxers have a hard time grasping. “Please Mike Keep your chin down”, wrote the user. Otherwise, a clean counter from Paul would send Perry to the shadow realm.

Meanwhile, this user feels all of Perry’s hard work is for nothing. The user commented, “All this just to go in there and throw 2 punches”. Most of Paul’s MMA opponents haven’t lasted long in the ring, so Perry’s chances aren’t looking great.
With all the comments, it’s safe to say that the fans are betting on Jake Paul walking out with yet another win. So, if Perry wants to win, he truly needs to do something extraordinary to create an upset. Do you think Mike Perry can beat Paul?
