Not too long ago, in a bold and candid statement on X, Gervonta Davis dismissed Keyshawn Davis as a potential opponent, stating, “He’s not even worth mentioning.” This remark came in the wake of Keyshawn’s increasingly vocal calls for a showdown with the WBA lightweight champion. After the 25-year-old’s spectacular knockout win over Gustavo Daniel Lemos in November, Keyshawn’s pursuit of Tank Davis intensified, as he made it clear that a future clash with the knockout artist was on his mind.
Speaking at the Emanuel Navarrete vs. Oscar Valdez event in Phoenix, Keyshawn boldly stated that 2025 would be the year for Davis vs. Davis, with his representative, Ishmael Henson, reportedly already in talks with Al Haymon. The Virginia native declared, “I am his weakness,” citing his youth, size, and unique fighting style as key advantages over the undefeated champion. The question remains—will this dream matchup come to fruition before Tank’s retirement at the end of 2025? Now with ‘The Businessman’s’ title fight with Denys Berinchyk in New York looming just hours away, his trainer Brian ‘Bomac’ McIntyre hinted at this possibility not being too far-fetched.

Gervonta Davis needs to level up for Keyshawn, asserts Bomac
The discussion began when a Fight Hype reporter asked Bomac about Keyshawn’s upcoming fight and potential future matchups. Bomac was first asked about the keys to victory for Keyshawn, to which he gave a straightforward answer: “Just go out there and do what he do best man.” Later, when asked about the plan for Keyshawn Davis after securing the title, Bomac thoughtfully replied, “We just go back … and see what’s the best available fight out there for us.” Then came the mention of Tank.

The reporter mentioned the existing “bad blood” between the 30-year-old and his fighter. This further prompted the Fight Hype reporter to ask how a potential fight between the two might unfold. Bomac responded with confidence. He acknowledged that Gervonta Davis has boxing skills but emphasized that ‘The Businessman’ is currently operating on a whole different level.
“We already know Gervonta Davis. Just a power puncher. He could box a little bit. But you know Keyshawn is just on a different level right now,” Terence Crawford’s longtime coach asserted. Bomac’s statement suggests that, while Tank is dangerous, he made it clear that his pupil, was operating on a different level in terms of boxing skills.
Bomac also pointed out that the Norfolk native is an entertainer in the ring. The 53-year-old envisioned Tank coming in aggressive during their fight. “Tank comes in there, try to knock you out.” But he also was confident that in the later rounds, Keyshawn would definitely get the upper hand.
Although Bomac’s assessment of Gervonta Davis is clear, it does not paint the full picture. Many in the boxing community would argue that Tank is far more than just a power puncher. So while Bomac’s words may have struck a nerve, they are by no means a universal truth in the eyes of all boxing analysts.

Need them Ferraris
Despite Bomac’s assessment, Davis’ future remains filled with potential mega matchups. One of the most anticipated bouts is the possibility of a showdown between Davis and Shakur Stevenson. The idea of a Davis-Stevenson clash gained further momentum when His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, the Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, expressed his desire to promote the fight between the two under his Riyadh Season banner.
Eddie Hearn, Stevenson’s promoter, also voiced his excitement about the potential matchup, calling it “One of the great American fights.” However, tensions between the WBA Lightweight champion and Alalshikh have cast a shadow over the potential event, leaving the fight in limbo for now.

Just yesterday, Gervonta Davis shared his condition to make the dream fight happen on A Safe Place Podcast, hosted by Lil Yachty. He acknowledged the large sums of money being offered by Saudi Arabian sports entity and said that as long as fighters are getting paid, he’d want a couple of Ferraris in return for making the deal happen. “So now give me two or four, or three Ferraris,” demanded Gervonta Davis, setting down his condition to do the deal.
With that said, do you believe Gervonta Davis is just a power puncher, or does he have more to his game? How would a fight between Tank and Keyshawn Davis play out if it happens?
