Jake Paul and former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. have been linked to a fight for over two years now. ‘The Problem Child’ had claimed that the reason for the bout not coming to fruition was Chavez’s rehabilitation. However, the conversation has now resurfaced, and his father, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. has offered his perspective on the match-up.
The Mexican fighter is getting closer to retirement age, and the results of his most recent bout don’t seem good either. Perhaps a fight with Paul might help him regain his reputation in the business, or he will at least be able to retire comfortably with a handsome payday.

Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. gives a vague response
Chavez Sr. is one of the most celebrated boxers in the history of the sport and is still a very popular name in Mexico. The veteran boxer had come to Los Angeles to attend the mega boxing event headlining the Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov fight. On the morning of the fight day, Elie Seckbach, the founder of ESNEWS, spoke briefly with Chavez Sr. and inquired about his son’s supposed fight with Paul. With a rather vague answer, Chavez Sr. responded, “I don’t know.”

‘The Problem Child’ defeated BKFC champion Mike Perry on July 20th via 6th round knockout. Chavez Jr. was also on the undercard and defeated former UFC fighter, Uriah Hall. Still, Chavez’s performance was insignificant given that Hall is an inexperienced boxer. Now his once-vibrant career is faltering.

Chavez has also been struggling with d**g abuse and was even arrested after being discovered in possession of two ghost weapons. He doesn’t have a great relationship with his father, either. Chavez Jr. had stated that his father and his ex-wife Frida would be held accountable if something were to happen to him. With a lot of problems on his plate right now, there is still hope for him to bring his life back on track because of a proposition by the WBA President.

Can Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. bring Jake Paul back to reality, or is Paul the real deal?

A lot of people have criticized the idea of Chavez and Paul fighting for a world title. But Chavez had mentioned after his win over Hall that he is eager to face Paul inside the ring, and with a world title on the line, he might be more inclined towards this proposition. Nevertheless, Paul has not shared his opinion about it yet. Only time will tell if this match-up reaches its fruition. Meanwhile, what do you think about Chavez Sr.’s vague answer?
