Earlier this year, Josh Warrington had vacated his IBF featherweight belt in search of top names in the division.  Eddie Hearn had announced that the Englishman was on the cusp of fighting championship athletes like Emanuel Navarrete, Leo Santa Cruz, Leigh Wood, Michael Conlan, and Gary Russell Jr.

The former IBF featherweight champion was tearing through the division with a neat 30-0 record until late January. However, he hit a speedbump along the way in February as he came face-t0-face with a 23-year-old knockout artist, Mauricio Lara.

The young prospect out of Mexico did not just get past Josh Warrington, he dropped him multiple times throughout the fight. Right from the get-go, Lara seemed like he had stepped into the ring to prove a point to the rest of the division.

Lara became the single inflection point in Warrington’s otherwise clean record. Since then, it seems the two have developed a rivalry. Now, the two have agreed to step into the ring once again and settle scores once and for all.

With a chip on his shoulder, the 30-year-old former IBF titlist will try to re-enter the win column against Mauricio Lara on September 4, 2021.

As the two head into battle tomorrow, here’s everything you need to know about both fighters-

Josh Warrington vs Mauricio Lara 2 – Records

In February, Josh Warrington stepped into the first Mauricio Lara fight with a clean record of 30 wins and no losses. However, with a ninth-round stoppage against Mauricio Lara on February 13th, the Englishman now holds a 30-1 record.

Lara was his first opponent after facing Sofiane Takoucht in 2019. This period of inactivity drove him to give up his IBF world title that he had first won against Lee Selby in early 2018. He reportedly vacated his belt to earn bigger fights in the division.

Mauricio Lara started his professional boxing career in 2015 and since then has fought 25 times. Throughout his pro-boxing career, the young Mexican prospect has racked up 23 wins (16 KOs) and 2 losses (1 KO).

Going by the records, Josh Warrington has been Lara’s toughest competitor yet. While he left no doubt in the viewers’ minds in February, it will be interesting to see if he can outperform his toughest opponent yet a second time.

Net Worth 2021

As per Idol Net Worth, Josh Warrington is worth a reported $30 million as of January 2021. His primary source of income is his professional boxing career and also certain endorsement deals.

As for Mauricio Lara, no official information about his net worth or his endorsement deals is available on online forums or platforms.
