The super-middleweight division has slowly become an exciting division in boxing. Although Canelo Alvarez is on course to becoming the undisputed champion, several challengers want to face him. David Benavidez and Jermall Charlo are two of the names in the running, and now, Jose Benavidez Sr. has given an update on their potential bout.
The two fighters have both called out Alvarez in the past. Despite this, the Mexican P4P star has made it clear that he will face Caleb Plant next.
Therefore, rumors suggested that Benavidez and Charlo would face each other. And Benavidez’s father and trainer, Jose, has given his take.

The trainer spoke to Behind The Gloves on YouTube and said, “Charlo said that he was going to break David’s neck. I reached out to him and I sent him a DM. I told him, with all due respect, I think that will be a great fight, it could be a pay-per-view fight. A very dangerous fight for us too. But whoever wins that fight would definitely fight Canelo.”
Thus, this comment from Benavidez Sr. showed that the fight was a serious consideration, and the Benavidez camp tried to make the fight. Moreover, he also revealed that the winner of the fight would fight for the undisputed title.

Jose Benavidez Jr. accused Jermall Charlo of ducking his brother
The trainer made no secret that they offered Charlo the fight. Moreover, both boxers fight under the PBC’s banner. Despite this, it will not be easy for them to agree to a bout. And Benavidez Sr. has already accused the undefeated champion of ducking his brother.

Benavidez Sr. said, “But he backed out, he said that David had to be vaccinated and that he would not fight someone under 25. Then his coach came and said that David did not bring anything to the table.”
Based on his comment, it appears the fight will not happen. However, it will be interesting to see what Charlo has to say about these comments since both fighters have already engaged in a verbal battle.
