Is Gotti III's knockout prediction against Mayweather pure hype or a real possibility?

When you put Floyd Mayweather Jr. in one corner of the boxing ring, you can imagine the other corner to be chaotic and anxious. But this won’t be the case this time. After already having a taste of what is like to be against ‘The Best Ever,’ John Gotti III is ready to showcase what he has in his box of tricks and his weaponry. And he is confident enough to pull off a knockout, causing an uproar in the boxing community. But how will he do it?

Gotti III, 31, and Mayweather Jr., 47, are ready to run it back one more time after their previous encounter never finished, technically. But they will bank on the experience gained, more training hours, and a prolonged break to come in with a fire to finish what they started last year. While most will put their chips behind ‘Pretty Boy’ because of his skill set and experience, Gotti III has the youth and unorthodox style to turn the tide. But that’s not all.

When the New York native appeared in an interview on DAZN, he reiterated his desire to bag a knockout win. And he already has a plan in mind. To exploit Mayweather Jr.’s laziness. Gotti III, at 2-0, declared, “He [Floyd Mayweather Jr.] gets lazy. He will get caught and he could get knocked out. Anybody can get knocked out, you know. This is boxing.”

In addition, the welterweight boxer has already seen and felt what Mayweather Jr. brings to the table. That’s another thing that could work for him. He continued, “The level of expertise and IQ he has in that ring. I felt it when I was in there the first time. But what I’m trying to say now is I’ve been in there with him. So the advantage I have is I seen what he has.”

Gotti III is not the only one who has faith in him to bring the 50-0 record holder down. Mayweather Jr.’s aging and slowing down of his quick reflexes might be another reason one could pick him to get outwitted and outperformed. But irrespective of the factors, his father, John Gotti Jr., knows his son has what it takes to take Mayweather Jr. down.

In the same conversation, Gotti Jr., pointing out the duration of the fight, an eight-round, 2-minute affair, said, “We hope John ends it quickly, and I believe he has the ability to do that.”
