It’s the biggest week in Tyson Fury’s career. However, all the attention has been grabbed by his father-cum-trainer, John Fury, after he head-butted a member of Usyk’s team in a hotel lobby in full view of the entire global media. Big John’s antics in Riyadh continue to capture headlines, albeit for good reasons. However, a report has emerged suggesting that he has received pertinent advice from a powerful person to remain on his best behavior.
It is a common occurrence that when either of his sons fights, John Fury’s shenanigans always capture the attention. For instance, last year when his youngest son, Tommy Fury, was to fight KSI, at the pre-fight presser, John lost his calm. He hurled chairs and whatnot reacting to the bickering between Logan Paul and Dillon Danis, the co-main event fighters. This time around, when his older son was ready to undertake a historic fight, he followed suit. However, someone has stepped in this time.
An Uber Calm, John Fury. Possible?

On X, the boxing insider portal, Boxing Kingdom, cited their sources to relay a pertinent development in the latest scuffle that broke out in Riyadh between John and a member of Oleksandr Usyk’s team. They noted that he’s been advised to be on his best behavior by a person in a very high position of power ahead of his son’s undisputed championship clash in Saudi Arabia. It is unclear who this powerful person is, but according to some comments, it could very well be the higher mantle in the region given how the event is its biggest take on boxing yet.
John Fury on best behaviour?
I’m told by a credible source that John Fury was advised by a person in a very high position of power, to be on his best behaviour for the rest of the week in KSA.

This is a very interesting turn this entire fiasco has taken given how for a while the entire attention in the boxing realm shifted to John’s meltdown. No one associated with the fight would certainly want the emphasis to divert from the fight, which could, perhaps be the biggest of this era to something as petty as his scruff with one of Usyk’s team members. Here is everything that happened that evening.

‘Spartan’ or Troublemaker?
Early in the fight week, when both clans had arrived in Riyadh, at one location where their clans came face-to-face, a fiasco broke out. On one side, the Ukrainian’s team was showing their vehement support for him by chanting his last name loud and clear. On the other end was only John Fury, loud and alone. Moments later, he got embroiled in an argument with one of Usyk’s team members, then a headbutt contest that ended with him getting an injury on his forehead.
In a video that surfaced online, he could be seen with blood flowing from his forehead onto his nose, as he went, “We’re spartans. We’re spartans. Let’s F**king go. I live for blood, I live for this sh*t. My boy lives for this sh*t.”

Moments after the fiasco went down, as usual, he had his apologies to make. He said, “Sincere apologies to everybody involved. It’s just the way we are. Emotions and tensions are running high. He was a very disrespectful fella. If you come close in a fighting man’s space, you’re gonna cop for something. What matters to me is respect for my son and he wasn’t showing any of it. He mentioned my son and that was it, so he had to have it. It doesn’t bother me [bleeding], it’s what we live for, we’re fighting people. That’s a regular occurrence to me.”
As fight night arrives, it remains to be seen how the adrenaline of the Fury family patriarch will be kept in check. Do you think Big John Fury will be able to keep a class act this time around? Let us know in the comments section below.
