Podcaster Joe Rogan is the personification of the phrase, ‘letting your intrusive thoughts win’. As one of the most successful podcasters in the world, he is well-known for sharing unique stories, while also entertaining the celebrities in attendance. Meanwhile, he has also gained notoriety for his intriguing thought process. In fact, he once believed that the Mountain from Game of Thrones, Hafthor Bjornsson, could take down a lion.
Rogan was hosting his ‘Joe Rogan Experience‘ podcast. Moreover, comedian Theo Von was present as a guest on the show. The duo was looking at a picture of a Roman Gladiator fighting in lion. Talking about the scenario, Rogan said, “The b*lls you’d have to leap down with a spear. And drive it through the lion’s brain. From the top rope, like spray all over the place. If that dummy got in there with that lion. You could definitely get in. If you gave someone a million dollars. You gave them a shield, and a sword, and armor.”

Moreover, he further delved into the consequences, saying, “Lion would leap on you so fast, your sword will be knocked out of your hand. It would just crush your f*cking head with its teeth.”
It is worth mentioning that while the concept has been heavily romanticized. There have been reports suggesting that Roman Gladiators seldom fought wild animals. And that a special class of performers called Venatores were the actual ones who fought wild beasts.
Joe Rogan believes that The Mountain stands a chance
While the debate raged, both Theo Von and Joe Rogan agreed that one person would fare well against a lion. And that person happens to be Icelandic professional strongman and boxer, Hafthor Bjornsson. An interesting point worth pondering is that Rogan had previously ignored Bjornsson’s request to be a guest on the podcast. Bjornsson was a fan of JRE and sent Rogan a message about the same. But Rogan left him on seen.
Talking about Bjornsson’s chances against a lion, Rogan said, “Yea, maybe the Mountain from Game of Thrones. The Giant Dude. Give that guy like a battle axe. Like a f*cking 85-pound axe.”
