Undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev is widely regarded as one of the most fearsome boxers in the sport today. The Canadian resident has built a reputation for his devastating power, with 20 of his victories coming by knockout. If not for his clash with former WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol, Beterbiev would still boast a flawless 100% knockout record.
But the question is, what’s the secret behind Beterbiev’s power, which has made him such a force to be reckoned with? The 40-year-old undefeated boxer is on a collision course with Bivol for their highly anticipated rematch on February 22nd in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, headlining a stacked card, featuring Shakur Stevenson, Vergil Ortiz Jr., and more.
Interestingly, during a recent episode of Joe Rogan’s JRE podcast, the UFC commentator took a shot at explaining the secret behind Beterbiev’s devastating power. Speaking about the undisputed champion, Rogan recollected the time a professional boxer was called in to spar with Artur Beterbiev.

Rogan explained that Artur Beterbiev had left the boxer devastated with his punches. He went on to claim, “Beterbiev is hitting people like this [short distance jabs]. It’s all short, everything is short. And it’s just power…” This prompted Rogan’s guest comedian Bryan Callen to add, “But they’ll hit your arms. He’ll break your arms down and then by so round five enjoy that s**t.”
Rogan remembered former undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez using a similar strategy, stating, “He smashes guys arms… The guys shell up with him. You don’t want that guy punching your arms.” The pair even looked at some of Beterbiev’s workouts from an open workout session, where the undefeated boxer can be seen training his wrists.
“Beterbiev is one of the craziest specimens cuz he’s almost 40 years old too,” Rogan concluded watching Beterbiev’s workout. Regardless of how powerful Artur Beterbiev might be, there’s no denying that the Bivol fight was an extremely close affair. In fact, it managed to convince some fans that Bivol had done enough to win.
So, with the rematch coming up, Bivol has declared his intentions for the fight.

Earlier this month, the kick-off press conference for the fight took place in London, United Kingdom. Bivol, eager to get in the ring again to avenge his first career loss, cleared any doubts about his intentions from the fight. “This is [a] good chance for me and I know people like [the] first fight and they want to see [the] second fight,” Bivol said.
“I want to make [a] second fight and I want to be [the] winner of this fight. Before I [just wanted the belts] and nothing else but today, I want not only just belts, I want revenge.” He went on to reveal that he has made changes in his training camp for the fight, noting more coaches have been brought in to elevate his game.
