The undercard for the trilogy fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin is a stacked one, to say the least. The undercard will be headlined by the co-main event featuring Jesse Rodriguez vs. Israel Gonzalez in a 12-round bout for Rodriguez’s WBC junior bantamweight title.

Rodriguez is a 22-year-old American boxer usually competing in the super-flyweight division. He stands 5-feet-4-inches tall and has a reach of 67 inches. He has an undefeated professional record of 16-0 with 11 KOs under his belt. Moreover, he is currently in great form after securing a win over Thai star Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in June.
Gonzalez, on the other hand, is a 25-year-old boxer from Mexico. He stands at 5-feet-6-inches tall and has a reach of 69-inches, a two-inch advantage over Rodriguez. He has competed in 32 bouts with a professional record of 28-4-1 and has 11 victories via KO. Moreover, he is currently on a two-fight winning streak with wins over fellow Mexican boxers, Misael Gracia Acevedo and Samuel Gutierrez Hernandez.

Rodriguez currently holds the WBC super-flyweight title after he beat Carlos Cuadras for the vacant strap in February. He extended his contract with Matchroom promotions following his victory over Rungvisai and is now looking to make a second successful title defense.
Gonzalez has also been a former title challenger but has never managed to become a champion. This will be his fourth time challenging for a title, having previously faced Roman Gonzalez, Kal Yafai, and Jerwin Ancajas for belts at 115lbs.

Coming into the fight, Rodriguez will be the favorite to win the fight. The champion is a pressure fighter and likes to fight at close range with his opponents.
