Jesse James Rodríguez was the hottest star in the flyweight division. After his successful move up to Super flyweight, he has become the most valuable commodity in that division too. He is coming off an impressive knockout win against Juan Francisco Estrada in his last fight, winning the WBC and Ring Magazine Super-Flyweight titles. Now, he will be heading for his first title defense against the 35-year-old Mexican fighter Pedro Guevara. Guevara, a Sinaloa-Mexico native, was the former WBC light flyweight champion. Now he holds the Interim WBC Super-Flyweight title which makes him a contender for Bam Rodriguez’s title.
Boxing reporter Michael Benson confirmed that Jesse Rodriguez will defend his WBC super-flyweight title against WBC ‘interim’ champion, Pedro Guevara. The 35-year-old fighter gained ‘interim’ status after defeating Andrew Moloney in his last fight in May this year. The development comes after Estrada eventually jumped to the bantamweight division, even though he triggered a rematch clause with Rodriguez after losing his super-flyweight titles to the Texas-born fighter.
Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez will defend his WBC super-flyweight world title vs WBC ‘interim’ belt-holder Pedro Guevara next, Guevara has confirmed. Possibility for fight to land on a show headlined by Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis on Nov 9th in Philadelphia.

Reportedly, the bout could occur at a show headlined by current IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis in Philadelphia. As per multiple sources, the bout could take place on November 9.
Guevara is coming into the showdown on the back of two consecutive wins since the fourth loss in his career against Carlos Cuadras last year. Guevara is currently ranked no 6 in The Ring’s 115-pound rankings.
Meanwhile, the undefeated Jesse Rodriguez is the No. 5 pound-for-pound champion. Previously, he won the WBO title last year against Cristian Gonzalez Hernandez and later the IBF flyweight title against Sunny Edwards toward the end of 2023 becoming the unified flyweight champion.

Jesse Bam Rodriguez wants to conquer the 115-pound division
Rodriguez is a force to be reckoned with as he made his debut in the 115-pound division with a bang, knocking out Estrada with a body shot in the seventh round. With the WBC and the Ring straps on his shoulder, he wants to go for the other belts in decision. But the San Antonio native might have to wait for a while as he will be making his first super-flyweight title defense against Pedro Guevera. With Estrada not planning to have a rematch, Rodriguez will be looking forward to challenging for the IBF title next.
“I’m here at 115 pounds for two or three fights. I have a rematch clause with Estrada. So if he wants to run it back, we can. If not, then I would like the winner of Kazuto Ioka-Fernando Daniel Martinez,” Rodriguez revealed in a previous interview.
