Jermell Charlo is amongst the few who dared to be great. Moving up two weight classes, the Iron Man challenged Canelo Alvarez for his undisputed super middleweight crown last year. Although he lost, the Louisiana native remains a force to be reckoned with in the light middleweight division, considering he was an undisputed champion there before his move.
Since his loss to Canelo in September 2023, Charlo has not stepped under the big lights in well over a year. Consequently, he was stripped of his undisputed light middleweight crown as well, and the WBC declared him a champion in recess for not specifying his return. However, the wait is over as the 34-year-old star teases his boxing comeback.

Iron Man draws motivation from critics
Troubles follow the Charlo brothers in and out of the boxing ring. While his brother Jermall remains infamous for his antics outside the squared circle, Jermell Charlo is also not a stranger to getting into trouble. In December 2023, Charlo was charged with misdemeanor assault, causing bodily injury to a family member.
Such debacles have kept fans increasingly doubtful about his comeback. Similarly, one fan expressed his concerns about his return. The Instagram user stated, “Man, we can’t take you seriously. You don’t have the passion anymore.“ An unfazed Charlo responded with a one-liner, “Must not know me.. You my motivation.“
