The lightweight division is one of the most exciting in the sport, both in and out of the ring. The characters and talent of the fighters make it what it is. However, the one thing that everyone wants to know is who is the best of the lot. Now Charlo has had his say.
Speaking on an Instagram live stream that has since been uploaded to FightHype.com on YouTube, ‘The Hitman’ said, “Imma stop going for you Dev. I’ll be doing all these interviews, talking about you. The only person that can beat Tank and Ryan Garcia in the same night” said Charlo.
Not only did these comments show Charlo’s choice between the lightweights, but they also showed how easy he thinks it would be for Haney. However, we’re sure both Davis and Garcia will have a lot to say about Charlo’s comments.

Why does Jermall Charlo think Devin Haney is the best lightweight?
The undefeated champion made no secret of his choice. However, the question remains why he feels this way. All four lightweight super-stars are undefeated, and of them, ‘The Dream’ is the youngest. Moreover, he has the least big-name fighters on his resume.
Charlo is referring to his skill set. Haney has an unquestionable talent and has a fantastic combination of the different aspects. He has the speed to match the other contenders, footwork, defense, and power. Thus, on paper, Haney is arguably the most complete of the lot.

However, despite his prowess, it will not be as easy as Charlo suggests. Certainly not easy enough to fight both on the same night. However, it all depends on one’s preferences.
If one likes a fighter with power, they’re going to side with Davis, while if they prefer a fighter with speed, they’d pick Garcia. Therefore, until they get in the ring to settle it, fans will never know who is the best of the lot.
