The two-weight class champ Jermall Charlo has not been to the ring for months. It seems his eagerly waiting fans have to be patient for longer than expected as his fight with Maciej Sulecki has been postponed, which will eventually extend his layoff over a year.

An unfortunate update came to the surface ahead of the much-awaited middleweight clash between the WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo and the Polish pugilist Maciej Sulecki.

Michael Benson of talk sports reported it on Twitter. He wrote, “Jermall Charlo vs Maciej Sulecki has been postponed from June 18th because Charlo has suffered a back injury. Card will be rescheduled.”

The duo was all set to square off on Saturday, June 18 at the Toyota Center in Huston live at SHOWTIME. Before scheduling the fight with Sulecki, ‘HitMan’ was in talks for a fight with Jaime Munguia.

As of now, there is no update on the new fight card. The new card will be announced based on Charlo’s recovery from the injury.

The comparison between Jermall Charlo and Maciej Sulecki

The former IBF middleweight champion Charlo last fought in June 2021. Though it was a tough battle, ‘The Future of Boxing’ emerged victorious.

The 32-year-old has fought 32 bouts and remained undefeated. He clinched 22 victorious by knockout, which defines the power Charlo produces behind the gloves. He has been in talks about going up against the Mexican icon and the face of boxing Canelo Alvarez and two-time super-middleweight champ David Benavidez. As such, these probable bouts are some of the biggest fights Charlo could land in the future.

He is a 6foot 1inch tall tough fighter with a reach advantage of 187cm. Whereas, his opponent Sulecki is coming out of two consecutive wins. The Polish had never faced a boxer of Charlo’s status, so it was going to be a tough exchange for him. The 33-year-old has faced only two defeats in his entire career.
