Is it his close aide, Floyd Mayweather Jr.? What about his chances of returning to Top Rank? Speculations run hot as Shakur Stevenson tries to find a new home after completing his contractual obligations to Bob Arum. He is not short of suitors, as there is another name on the list: Eddie Hearn‘s Matchroom. Will that be a perfect match for the American fighter? Jaron Ennis certainly believes so.

Ever since ‘Sugar’ defeated Artem Harutyunyan, many have wondered where he will go next. Despite a mouth-watering $15 million offer on the table from Top Rank, Stevenson has decided to play the waiting game. While the 27-year-old mulls over his options, ‘Boots’ has listed the benefits if he joins him under the Matchroom banner. In a conversation with FightHubTV, when asked about sending a message to the WBC lightweight champion, Ennis declared, “Eddie [Hearn] does great things.”

When Stevenson, at 22-0, fought Harutyunyan before his home crowd in Newark, he was met with boos and slander. It was not a homecoming that he expected, but that might change if he brought himself to the Matchroom fold, as Ennis asserted. The welterweight champion continued, “He treats his fighters right. You’re gonna have the proper homecoming, everything.”

Lastly, Ennis, 27, pointed out that, as Hearn had prodigal mic skills, one could only focus inside the ring and on their opponent. Leaving the talking to the British promoter. He concluded, “He does the talking (outside the ring), all you have to do is the talking inside it. I don’t do the talking too much, I’m on the quiet side. Eddie’s a machine, that’s what I need because I don’t talk too much.”

The Philadelphia native has made a strong case for Hearn and Matchroom Boxing, as he tried his best to sway Stevenson. What’s more? The latter also holds the Matchroom lynchpin in his regard, labeling him “one of the best promoters.” Are boxing stars aligning for them to come together? We might have to wait and see. Meanwhile, Ennis is keen on having a homecoming that Stevenson couldn’t have.

When Ennis, at 31-0, held the mic during Thursday’s presser, he was not short of words, as the electrifying atmosphere consumed him. He expressed his eagerness to put on a show, as he promised to get another stoppage and add David Avanesyan to the list of his victims. Notably, it will be the first time the IBF champion will bring gold to his city and defend it before them.

“I feel that I am going to thrive here and put on a beautiful show. I’m fighting at home, I’m comfortable, I’m on the couch with my feet up. So it’s going to be a great show,” he declared vehemently. It remains to be seen whether Ennis will leave his mark on the 147-pound division and become its enforcer after the departure of Terence Crawford.
