

Lightweight’s Jamel Herring and Jonathan Oquendo are set to face off for the WBO Junior Lightweight title on September 5. The contest is set for 12 rounds and promises to provide high octane action under the bright lights. Oquendo will look to claim Jamel Herring’s strap and solidify his position atop the ladder when they finally meet at the Top Rank Bubble.

The Puerto Rican boxer in Jonathan Oquendo won the vacant WBO Latino Junior Lightweight title in his last fight. Moreover, he managed to bounce back from his disappointing outing against Lamont Roach Jr back in May of 2019. He has certainly displayed his ability to go the distance in about, however, his cardio has been brought into question.

Herring has been the more consistent fighter between the two and is wary of engaging in firefights. Herring will likely find success if he maintains his patented range-finding techniques. Additionally, it is imperative that he avoids the flurry that will come to his way mid-fight.
