Back in the day, it would have reminded you of a roller coaster with invisible loops, or even the challenges in good old Takeshi’s Castle. But surprises don’t seem to cease. Since the September 13th announcement in Los Angeles, the boxing contest between YouTuber Jake Paul and former UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva has dropped one bombshell after another.

With barely a day left before their eventual clash, during a pre-fight press conference, The Problem Child surprised everyone when he threw a Closing Line’ to Spider Anderson Silva.
Jake Paul and Anderson Silva agreeing a bet ahead of their fight on Saturday night. If Silva wins, Jake rematches him in kickboxing. If Jake wins, Silva joins him to start an association to help UFC fighters get better pay and healthcare…

Jake Paul on crusade or for the ‘Chips’
Now let this be clear: there is nothing illegal about boxers waging a bet against each other. For that matter, there have been past instances of fighters instead betting on themselves! For example, Floyd’ The Money’ Mayweather had reportedly done so back in 2017, with a $400,000 bet for a victory within 9.5 rounds.
Jake Paul‘s terms stupefied everyone. “I have a bet for you, Anderson – it’s a good one,” Paul said. “If you win, I’ll give you something you probably want.
“If you win, I will fight you in an MMA fight — OK, kickboxing — but if I win, me and you come together to create a united fighters’ association to help UFC fighters get better pay and better healthcare. You become the interim president and we unite to help these fighters once and for all.”
On expected lines, Twitterati reacted.

A worthwhile bet?
While the debates on their recent bet will continue for some time, Jake Paul deserves the credit for taking up MMA fighters’ cause in the past. As much as it is gaining popularity, MMA still lags behind boxing on paychecks. Money raked in by top-ranked boxers is unimaginable by MMA standards.
