YouTube sensation Jake Paul and former Love Island star Tommy Fury recently clashed to decide who was the best influencer boxer. Although Fury would emerge victorious handing Paul his first-ever professional loss, it was a close fight with ‘TNT’ winning via split decision. The two might now run the fight down for a second time as Paul does have a rematch clause in his contract. However, ‘The Problem Child’ might have made the biggest paycheck of his career despite losing the fight. So let us take a look into each fighter’s purse from this fight and how much they made overall including their PPV shares.
Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury: Guaranteed purse
Paul was certainly the bigger name out of the two and had a successful career as an influencer. Moreover, he was also touted as the better boxer coming into the fight as a favorite, with names like Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva under his belt. Fury, on the other hand, was the smaller name of the two despite having a boxing background. His guaranteed purse was set at $2 million with a 35% share in the PPV buys. With the PPV buys and sponsorship deals included, the 26-year-old will have made an estimated $9 million while Fury’s total would amount to half of that at $4.5 million. However, Paul has come out to make some bold claims about his earnings from this fight.
Did Jake Paul really make $30 million?
In a recent Instagram story, Paul suggested that he made $30 million after his loss to Fury. In the story, he wrote that he earned this amount despite losing the match. “When you lost but made $30 million,” he wrote. ‘The Problem Child’ has had a history of boasting about his events and claiming to earn far more than he actually did.
This could also be the case for this fight as he did not provide fans with any sort of evidence to back up his claims. However, he could have reached this mark if the number of PPVs sold was over 500,000 which is not public information yet.
