ESPN reported that the Arizona State Athletic Commission has cleared Silva to face Paul after some intriguing comments he made earlier. The Spider claimed that he had been knocked out by one of his sparring partners, which drew concern over his availability for the fight. Following this, he released a statement claiming that he had never been knocked out in the session. “I was never knocked out in sparring. I misspoke in that interview as I sometimes do when interviewing in English and exaggerated. The normal back-and-forth action that occurs in sparring.” Said Silva.

Despite initial concerns, the fight will go ahead as planned as Paul looks to add another win to his undefeated record, while Silva plans to prove that he is still one of the greatest strikers in the world.
