Jake Paul might have faced a temporary setback. The big card on July 20 with Mike Tyson met with a last-minute postponement. The duo appear all set for a final November showdown now. However, outside the ring, ‘The Problem Child’s flag flies high in the realm of big business. The YouTuber-turned-boxer is already running a successful boxing promotion. Since its founding, the venture has borne witness to some of the most successful boxing events of recent times. Then there’s the mobile betting application. However, perhaps he wasn’t satisfied. Or, maybe, something or someone inspired him for more?

According to available sources, ‘The Problem Child’ entered the multi-billion-dollar men’s wellness and grooming business. Providing an array of personal care products, he reportedly plans to sell them through the well-established Walmart retail chain. Though facing criticism from several corners for the match-up against Mike Tyson, Paul had decided to press forward with the fight. However, things took an unexpected turn when the boxing great met with a medical emergency. Amidst growing concerns and to give the former heavyweight champion time for recovery, the July show in Texas had to be canceled, and a new date, November 15, was set.

Called ‘W’, Jake Paul’s new venture deals with personal grooming items such as body spray, body wash, and deodorants. Reportedly, the plan envisages the introduction of further products such as hair gels, soaps, shampoos, and conditioners. How are the fans and customers going to make their purchases? So, the range of merchandise under ‘W’ would be sold through the Walmart retail stores spread across the country. We are talking about four thousand outlets here! Products would be made available on Amazon as well.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Jake Paul explained the intention behind his new company, ‘W’. “It’s basically taking the term ‘W’—winning,” he said. In his view, everyone, from a firefighter to a high schooler, is a winner. Hence, he wants to provide a range of products in ‘an old and outdated space’. Reportedly, each of the items offered by ‘W’ could currently be purchased for under $10.

I wanted something without parabens, artificial dyes, hormone disrupters, harsh sulfates, and less silicone,” said Jake Paul on the X/Twitter. So with the intention of providing a healthier range of goods, the ‘W’ products, it seems, contain vitamins.

According to an article in Fortune, ‘Anti Fund’, a venture capital enterprise, incidentally founded by Jake Paul and Geoffrey Woo, backs ‘W’, with Woodie Hillyard officiating as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Inspiration behind Jake Paul’s new men’s care brand

2 years ago I went to the store to buy deodorant, I realized there wasn’t a good modern-day solution made without unhealthy stuff,” said ‘The Problem Child’. He was looking for a product that didn’t contain any ‘unhealthy stuff’, and at the same time worked properly. Unfortunately, according to him, there were hardly any items that fulfilled his criteria. So an idea germinated. To make something that ticked all the boxes.

Calling his company a ‘lifestyle,” he said that it is meant for all those who have the courage to follow a different path. Sharing that the journey hadn’t been easy, ‘The Problem Child’ revealed on the post that the experience had been a rewarding one. Why? Because he created something that all the fans, followers, and random users would love.

Talking about ‘W’ Jake Paul told Fortune, “It’s really just a testament of 1,000 failures beforehand.” To many, it would be hard to fathom the humongous number. But the fact remains. Jake Paul has in the past dipped his hands in several businesses, some of which reportedly failed to take off. Let’s check out how the business journey of ‘The Problem Child’ has panned out over the past few years.

Other businesses of ‘The Problem Child’

In January 2018, he launched an online educational platform for social media influencers called ‘Edfluence’. However, the business had to close its shop two years later. In January 2021, along with long-time associate Nakisa Bidarian, Jake Paul came up with the Most Valuable Promotion (MVP). A boxing promotion project, one of the first boxers he signed to his company was Amanda Serrano. The very next year, MVP joined Eddie Hearn‘s Matchroom Boxing and hosted the first women’s fight to headline at the storied Madison Square Garden. The title clash between Serrano and Katie Taylor not only won hearts and minds but wallets as well.

Then the same year, in August 2022, Jake Paul partnered with Joey Levy, the founder of Simplebet, and founded ‘Betr‘. It’s a micro-betting application that, at a recent capital-raising round, received a valuation of $375 million. According to several reports, ‘Betr’ secured around $15 million in strategic equity funding. Clearly, Jake Paul is today in a position where he is making a name for himself not only in the ring but in the boardroom as well.

There were talks of him taking on mixed martial artist and bare-knuckle fighter Mike Perry on July 20 following the cancellation of the Mike Tyson fight. However, they remained unconfirmed. The YouTuber-turned-boxer instead reaffirmed that the fight with Mike Tyson was taking place. “I AM FIGHTING MIKE TYSON ON NETFLIX, AND I WILL GET THE W,” he said in an X/Twitter post.
