The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight was a bit of a disappointment. The lead-up to the fight was intense and even involved a slap, which hyped the fans up. Everyone entered AT&T Stadium to see The Baddest Man On The Planet’s dominating return to the ring. But what they saw was just sad, as the former world champion was a shell of his former self.
The age disparity was evident, as Tyson could not match the YouTuber’s youth and spirit inside the ring. Everyone can consider Jake Paul lucky because he didn’t have to face a young and healthy Tyson. At least the Problem Child thinks the same as he described the most powerful opponent he has faced in the ring, with just one word—“tricky”.

A few hours after the fight, the 27-year-old sat down with his friends and family for a conversation on BS w/ Jake Paul. The 11-1 boxer answered various questions including, “Who is the most powerful you’ve felt in a fight?”
In a rather surprising turn of events, Jake Paul chose Tommy Fury rather than the former heavyweight champion as the heaviest puncher he has ever faced. According to the Puerto Rico resident, it is not that simple. He said, “It’s the shots you don’t see. So Tommy was a little tricky,” stating that he could see Tyson’s punches and was able to evade them. Interestingly, Paul has lost only 1 out of 12 fights and that loss came against Tommy Fury last year. The pair tried for a rematch, but the negotiations broke down in between.
Jake Paul further explained, “Mike’s punches, I could see coming. He was strong, but he didn’t land anything clean. So, I honestly didn’t feel Mike Tyson’s full power,” implying how fatigue took over Tyson after the first round of the fight.
But The Problem Child considers himself lucky because no one wants to feel the complete power of Mike Tyson. He stated, “But that’s good. You don’t want to,” with a sigh of relief on his face. This just shows how one-sided the fight was. Fans were left disappointed and dejected after the horror show as according to CompuBox, Tyson was not able to land anything substantial in the fight.

Did Jake Paul really outsmart Tyson, or was it just age catching up with the legend?

What a letdown!
According to CompuBox stats, Mike Tyson was only able to connect 18 of his total 97 punches thrown along with 5 of 62 jabs. These numbers are even lower than his infamous Buster Douglas loss on February 11, 1990, where Tyson only managed to throw 214 punches in 10 rounds. Even in that shocking loss, he was able to land 47%(101) of his punches. But in the fight against Paul, that percentage came down to a whopping 18.6.

During the interview, even Tyson agreed with the fact that the 58-year-old lost all confidence in winning the fight after the second round, and he “just started surviving,” trying to finish the fight.
The rather surprising thing is that even Jake Paul’s performance was not that impressive as he failed on his promise to deliver a knockout. El Gallo landed 78 out of 278 total punches (28%) and connected with 31 out of 179 jabs.
However, it was a comfortable victory for the 27-year-old as he even stopped fighting in the last few seconds to bow down in front of Mike Tyson. It was his way of showing respect to the legend, who knew that this fight had slipped away from him.

This fight was proof that age catches up to everyone and you can’t run from it. It might have also stopped Tyson’s rumored plans of returning to the ring. But only time will answer that question.
