YouTube star Jake Paul can’t stop taking hits after unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez played him like a fiddle. Now, Floyd Mayweather’s uncle has held up a mirror to ‘The Problem Child.’ Earlier this month, The Ring reported that Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford were in the final stages to make a fight in September.
Meanwhile, separate sources claimed Canelo and Jake Paul were also in conversation for a fight in May. This was followed by The Ring dropping the bombshell that the Canelo-Crawford fight was off, with speculation suggesting the Canelo-Paul fight may have caused the downfall of the Crawford fight.
However, in a massive twist, Canelo signed a four-fight contract with Riyadh Season instead of going through with the Paul fight in May. Now, Canelo will face IBF super middleweight champion William Scull on May 3rd for an undisputed fight, making his meeting with Crawford later this year even bigger.

Paul, frustrated about the U-Turn Canelo took, fired back on social media claiming Canelo “ducked” a fight with him to sign a lucrative deal with Riyadh Season. Paul even showed the contract Canelo had signed to fight him, branding the Mexican superstar a “money-hungry squirrel chasing your next nut.”

However, Jeff Mayweather doesn’t feel the same way. While appearing in an interview with The Mayweather Channel recently, a reporter asked the legendary trainer whether Canelo backed out of the fight against Paul because he may have thought that he bit off more than he could chew.
“I don’t think that,” Jeff Mayweather responded confidently. “I think that he just wants to fight a big fight that actually means something.” When confronted with the reality that Paul, like Canelo, is one of the biggest names in the sport, Jeff Mayweather dismissed the idea, noting, “I don’t know about the two biggest names in the sport.”
Regardless, Jeff Mayweather isn’t the only one criticizing Jake Paul.
Former UFC star reacts to Jake Paul vs. Canelo Alvarez drama
Former UFC champion Michael Bisping didn’t hold back after Jake Paul accused Canelo Alvarez of ducking him. With their fight negotiations falling apart, Paul took to social media to criticize Alvarez, but Bisping quickly shut him down.

“Jake Paul is at it again, making an absolute fool out of himself,” Bisping said on his YouTube channel. “Calling out Canelo Alvarez, making videos dancing around in a sombrero, paying no respect, and saying Canelo is ducking him.”

Bisping dismissed Paul’s credentials, emphasizing Alvarez’s legacy. “Jake Paul has been a tremendous businessman. Okay? He’s not a fighter,” he said. He also pointed out the size difference between them. “Canelo fights at 166 pounds… Jake Paul is about 220 pounds. That’s a 60-pound difference. That’s called a bully.”

Despite the weight disparity, Bisping believes Alvarez would still win—but he’s glad the fight won’t happen.
That said, it appears Jake Paul has failed to earn any friends by going after Canelo Alvarez. Even though he doesn’t seem to have done anything wrong apart from trying to parachute his way into big fights, people seem to have a certain distaste for anything he is involved in.
