Jake Paul offering $15 million to Nate Diaz—Is this a desperate move or a smart play?

Looks like former UFC fighter and The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner, Nate Diaz is at home in boxing. For the same reason, after defeating Jorge Masvidal in their boxing match, the fighter from Stockton announced he was open to challenges in the ring and called out Jake Paul for a rematch. However, did Diaz not already decline an offer to rematch Paul in the recent past? On that note, Paul ridiculed Diaz immediately.

Although Jake Paul’s performance was not laudable, he somehow managed to defeat Nate Diaz via unanimous decision when the two fought in August last year. After the fight, PFL offered to stage a rematch between Paul and Diaz in the Smart Cage. As per ‘The Problem Child,’ a $15 million offer had also been proposed to Diaz as an incentive to face Paul in a cage. Later, the CEO of PFL, Peter Murray, in an interview with SunSport, also testified to Jake’s statements. But, Diaz did not respond to the offer.

So, it was surprising when, after avenging his MMA loss to Jorge Masvidal in boxing at Honda Center in Anaheim, Nate Diaz called out Jake Paul. With an MD win over ‘Gamebred,’ he cried, “Leon Edwards, Jake Paul, and anybody the f*** else, you’re dead!” In his response, Paul reminded that Diaz, in the past, had already turned down an offer to rematch ‘The Problem Child’ in PFL. So, exposing Diaz’s hypocrisy to the public, Paul wrote, “F**k you Nate Diaz you’re a h*e who ducked my PFL $15m MMA offer.” He continued!

Additionally, since Masvidal lost to an opponent Paul had conquered in August last year, ‘The Problem Child’ ridiculed Jorge’s performance. In a brutal review, the 27-year-old, who will square off against Mike Perry in his upcoming fight, said, “Masvidal trash too smh.” At this, while Jake Paul remained unimpressed by Jorge Masvidal’s boxing, the former UFC fighter defended his performance.

Jorge Masvidal expects a trilogy with Nate Diaz

Other than Fernando Villarreal who scored the contest a draw [95-95], Judge Zachary Young and Rudy Barragan scored the contest in Nate Diaz’s favor leading the Stockton fighter to an MD victory. This upset Masvidal as he thought he had won the fight. And while Jake Paul feels Jorge’s boxing was “trash”, Gamebred believes he landed some meaningful shots deserving of recognition. “I definitely know judges were influenced by the crowd. A lot of those shots I landed in the corner. I was just getting my timing, three four shots,” said Masvidal at the post-fight press conference.

Have an interesting take?

And then I throw a good power shot. I see that I hurt him, back him up. He [would] start goofing around, hurt him to the body numerous times. It did not go my way. We’re 1-1. We could run it back somewhere in Vegas and make it neutral,” Masvidal concluded, expecting a third fight.
