Highest fight purses in boxing

Boxing has paved the way for some of the biggest purses in the world of sports. In fact, boxers are some of the highest-paid athletes in the world.

The rematch between Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson in 1997 was one of the most expensive fights at that time. Even though the fight is still known for the infamous ear bite incident, it sold almost two million subscriptions.

Holyfield earned $36.9 million and Tyson earned $31.5 million from the fight.

Talking about boxing purses will be incomplete without mentioning one of the richest athletes in the world, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather Jr.

One of his most memorable and expensive fights was ‘The Money Fight’ against the UFC superstar Conor McGregor in 2017. McGregor earned $90.9 million from the fight. However, Mayweather’s earnings were a whopping $290.9 million.
