Jake Paul is just two days away from his highly awaited rematch against Tyron Woodley. ‘The Chosen One’ stepped up on less than 10 days’ notice to replace Tommy Fury, who withdrew because of injury. Although ‘The Problem Child’ needs to focus on the former UFC welterweight champion, he has an eye on his brand and his future.

The YouTuber turned boxer has called out a lot of boxers in the past. However, in the buildup to his fight, Paul has called out one of the best boxers in the world right now.

He said, “One-hundred percent I’m going to fight Canelo. Look at this guy Yildrim… Why can he get a fight [against Canelo] but I can’t?”

Although the WBC initially sanctioned Canelo‘s fight against WBC cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu, doubts over this matchup are now looming, since Makabu has to box his mandatory challenger, Thabiso Mchunu. Hence, Alvarez may have to keep light heavyweight as a backup option.

Wherever 31-year-old Canelo fights next, it is clear that he is nowhere close to a Jake Paul fight. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old will look to live up to the comparisons he has received from his upcoming opponent.

Tyron Woodley compares Jake Paul to this Hall of Fame UFC champion

Tyron Woodley lost to Jake Paul on 29 August earlier this year. He was surprised by the YouTuber turned boxer’s boxing skill and power. In an interview with ShowTime boxing, Woodley said Paul’s power reminded him of a UFC fighter.

I respected it when I watched him – Ben Askren got hit by Robbie Lawler, who cooked many guys,” Woodley said while talking about Paul’s punching power.

“He (Lawler) didn’t knock Ben out with MMA gloves on, so when he (Paul) did it with boxing gloves, of course (I respected it). I was in his corner.”

“Anybody that has the power to just – actually, I would compare it to Robbie, to be honest. Robbie had what we call that ‘dumpy’ power. He didn’t have to move a lot. He could just stand there and hit you with a punch. You’ve got to respect that.”

If Paul does indeed have punching power like Robbie Lawler, will Woodley be able to outbox him and secure a win? Or will ‘The Problem Child’ get the knockout he is so eagerly looking for?
