Jake Paul and his antics online have taken a more serious turn! Not long ago, the YouTuber-turned-pugilist, alongside Mike Tyson and Netflix, revealed they had arranged a boxing match. The news in itself was crazy enough, but in true ‘The Problem Child’ fashion, Paul had to take it a step further by taunting Mike Tyson…
Shortly after the revelation of the fight scheduled for July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Paul wasted no time taking to social media to unveil his latest tattoo. And it’s no ordinary tattoo! It’s the same as the one Tyson has donned for years. However, Paul’s latest tactic to promote his fight has raised a few questions. And the most prominent one is – is the tattoo real?
On March 8, Overtime Boxing shared the clip of Jake Paul revealing his face tattoo. Since that video came out, most people have believed that the 27-year-old is doing all this to promote his fight against the 57-year-old. Mike Tyson got the tattoo just before his fight against Clifford Etienne in 2003 from artist S. Victor Whitmill of Las Vegas, Nevada. Why did Tyson decide to get the tattoo? He suggested it was either this “cool” tattoo or a “really stupid” one.

“I just thought it was a cool tattoo. I was going to get a bunch of hearts and stuff, and that would have been really stupid,” he once revealed. Besides being cool, the now-iconic tribal tattoo made Tyson look all the more intimidating and instilled fear into his opponents. Considering Jake Paul seemingly got the exact same tattoo, he may have wanted to go for the same intimidating aura. Or, as many have suggested, he’s just doing it for promotion. However, that still doesn’t answer the question of whether Paul’s face tattoo is real.

There’s no doubt that the 27-year-old’s move to get the tattoo was ballsy, but even ‘The Problem Child’ could not risk getting the real tattoo. In the post from Overtime, they mentioned that the tattoo was fake and the entire thing was a promotional stunt. They wrote, “Definitely fake, but this one hell of a promo video.” And as it so happens, that’s not the only promotion Jake Paul did, taunting Tyson even more.

If getting Tyson’s face tattoo wasn’t enough – albeit fake – Paul decided to take it a step further. In the clip by Overtime, Paul started by claiming, “You heard it right, motherf**ker. I’m fighting Mike Tyson, b*tch.” He copied Tyson’s infamous “I’m gonna make you my girlfriend” line when the legend tried to intimidate Donovan’ Razor’ Ruddock.

“Oh man, I can’t wait for the night of the 20th. I’m [going to] make Mike my girlfriend,” Paul iterated word for word. This still wasn’t the end of Paul’s mockery. He then proceeded to steal another line from Tyson’s trash-talking playbook. “I’m the most brutal, vicious, and most ruthless champion there’s ever been… My style is impetuous. My defense is impregnable… I want your heart. I want to eat his children. On the 20th, I’ll come out victorious, I promise you,” said Paul. After the YouTuber-turned-prizefighter said all this, Mike Tyson made his intentions clear.
Expressing his anticipation for the fight, Tyson referred to himself as the GOAT, saying, “[Paul has] grown significantly as a boxer over the years. So, it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a kid can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT…” Referring to how Paul was on the undercard of his last fight, Tyson added, “It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch as I started him on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones. And now, I plan to finish him.”
