There’s no denying that the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight is big, but is it a hundred million pay-per-view big? ‘The Problem Child,’ in an interview with TMZ Sports, anticipates a full house at the AT&T Stadium and a massive viewership tuning in from home for his clash with the soon-to-be 58-year-old ‘Iron’ Mike. Yet, scanning through social media, fans seem to harbor doubts about its grandiosity.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion is poised to re-enter the professional boxing arena after a staggering 19-year hiatus. His last foray into the ring was in 2020 against Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition match, which raked in over 1.6 million pay-per-view buys and generated revenue exceeding $80 million. Despite boxing’s purported downturn, Paul remains steadfast in his belief that his upcoming bout with Tyson will shatter all previous records.

‘The Problem Child’, fresh off the heated press conference in Texas, spoke about his upcoming fight with Mike Tyson. As the reporter probed Paul about his thoughts on how many people he thinks would watch or attend the fight, Paul, confident about putting on one of the biggest fights of the year, didn’t hesitate to project huge numbers for the fight.

As many that could fit in the stadium, I think it’s like 90K or 93K; I think it’s going to be packed to the brim and the global viewership could be in the hundreds of millions,” Paul told the reporter. It’s worth mentioning that the stadium’s maximum capacity is somewhere in the neighborhood of 80,000 seats or up to 105,000 with standing room. Also, according to sources, Netflix, as of the first quarter of 2024, has a paid subscriber base of 269.6 million.

So, Paul’s projection could come true, yet when the reporter highlighted that such numbers often come from the Super Bowl, Paul agreed, saying, “It’s wild. It doesn’t make any sense. But the fact that Netflix is a part of this, the perfect piece of the puzzle, makes it this perfect trifecta of Netflix’s audience, my audience and Mike Tyson’s audience.”

While Paul might seem sure enough about the success of his fight, fans seem to have other ideas.

Fan reveals his illegal plan for the Mike Tyson fight

Despite Paul’s popularity and the scale of the fight, fans don’t seem to be onboard with Paul’s plans for millions. One user blatantly called the YouTuber-boxer “delusional,” implying Paul has unrealistic expectations from the fight. While Tyson is a big name, achieving a hundred million PPV seems impossible even for him. One of the biggest PPV events Tyson was part of was the second fight against Evander Holyfield, where ‘Iron’ Mike bit off Holyfield’s ear.

Meanwhile, this user just publicly announced his illegal intentions for the upcoming mega event. It’s vital to remember that streaming fights illegally violate copyright laws, and could result in fines and rare jail time.

Someone else cautioned Jake Paul to lower his expectations, or he was in for a harsh reality check. The fight will be Netflix’s first boxing match of these proportions, so only after the event unfolds, Paul’s projection could be judged.

Another user suggested ten million viewership could be possible, but hundreds of millions seem way too far-fetched. To put things into perspective, the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight still holds the title for the largest Pay-Per-View event to date, boasting an impressive 4.6 million PPV sales.

The next user expressed similar emotions, clearly asserting there’s no chance the fight crosses the hundred million PPV mark. In fact, that has never happened in the history of boxing. But who knows? The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson could do the impossible!
