The ‘Drake Curse’, a web-woven legend, has become a haunting reality for many a sports star. The formula is simple: Drake bets on a victory of a certain athlete/team, and often surprising defeat for the unfortunate athlete occurs. From UFC champions to boxing superstars, no one seems immune to this bizarre phenomenon. The most recent one affected by the curse was Francis Ngannou.
Anthony Joshua recently knocked out Francis Ngannou in the second round of their fight. As usual, Drake had a $600,000 bet placed on the MMA veteran Ngannou. The outcome didn’t come out his way, thus, substantiating the inconceivable myth. The victim of this curse was also Jake Paul, who faced the loss against Tommy Fury last year. So, taking this into consideration, Paul made a special request to Drake.

The Problem Child while in a discussion with his friends on BS w/ Jake Paul, made his feelings evident about Drake betting on him. Paul recalled, “When Drake finally bet on me against Tommy Fury, I lost as well. I feel like it’s actually real.” Jake Paul agreed that the curse just might be real and then went on to ask something of Drake. He stated, “I think it kind of is. I’m gonna- Drake please bet on Mike for this fight. Thank you, Drake.” His friend then added, “Thank you in advance.”
So, Jake Paul feels it’s important to have every kind of luck in his favor going up against Mike Tyson. However, it’s possible that Drake might favor Mike Tyson in the fight, considering their amicable relationship with each other.

Back at the beginning of 2023, Drake’s New Year’s rewind wasn’t all champagne toasts and confetti showers. A cryptic Instagram post featuring both a celebratory pic with Mike Tyson and footage of himself getting hauled away by police had fans buzzing with questions. The post, a year-in-review captioned with a mix of braggadocio and veiled threats, included the photo of Drake and Tyson alongside a clip of the rapper being escorted by authorities. This post was even shared by Tyson on his Instagram story.
Besides this, the sound label owned by Drake also released merch in tribute to ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’. Drake’s OVO label is known for pushing boundaries, and that’s what they did with their collaboration with Tyson in 2018. The powerful image of Tyson rocking the classic OVO owl hoodie landed on Instagram like a well-placed jab. There was also a follow-up video that showcased Tyson’s early boxing career alongside glimpses of the upcoming apparel.
