Did Mike Perry's flashy chain bring him bad luck, or is Jake Paul just rubbing it in?

If viciousness and aggression are Mike Perry‘s first nature, oddity is his second. Besides throwing powerful punches in the ring, he knows how to sell fights. But ‘Platinum’ also has an unusual history of using props in the buildup to the fights. From biting a chocolate bar to handing out a Polaroid image, he has done it all. When the fight with Jake Paul was boiling and edging closer to the showdown, he pulled out another prop. A custom chain this time! However, things didn’t turn out exactly the way the American fighter wanted.

When Perry, 32, walked to the ring during the open workout, he made waves on the internet with two things. The first was a brutal beat-down of the mascot of Paul’s recently released men’s care brand, W. The second was his custom-made chain that had ‘Problem Child’ getting punched. The message was clear: the BKFC star wanted to punch his opponent and rattle him. But he found himself on the receiving end of a heavy punishment, leaving the arena with a swollen and bloody face, and taking a knee three times in the fight. It seems Paul, 27, hasn’t forgotten about the unique piece of jewelry.

Paul, at 10-1, took to his social media handles and posted a still of the chain that seized eyeballs, and along with it, he put a picture of the former UFC star getting punched in the face. Drawing the contrast in fortunes and how the thing unfolded, he wrote in the caption, “Crazy how his chain played out.”

However, the American prizefighter acknowledged Perry’s toughness, as he called him “tough as nails” in the post-fight interview. With this comprehensive win, Paul has set the fight with Mike Tyson in motion. But his post-fight comments also attracted attention, as the boxer called out another UFC fighter, this time an active one, for a showdown. The fans gasped in shock when Paul spelled out UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira‘s name.

Jake Paul and his growing obsession with the UFC’s crop of fighters

Referencing the UFC champion’s desire to follow in the footsteps of Francis Ngannou, Paul called out Pereira. He declared, “Alex Pereira, you said you want to box. I’m the king of this. I’m the king of this. Come over; we can make it happen. I want you, Alex Pereira.”

But the chances of such a fight are slim, as the beef between the Cleveland native and UFC CEO Dana White has turned ugly in recent years. You can’t expect the UFC lynchpin to let go of one of the most famous names of his promotion to help Paul mint money. While Paul has already beaten 5 former UFC fighters, his focus has shifted entirely to the fight with Tyson, scheduled to happen in November.
