As Love came into the fight 3 pounds over the 140-pound weight limit, the fight took place at the 145-pound weight. Love took on the incredibly tough ‘Chuko’ Diaz, who refused to give up inside the ring. Montana Love knocked Diaz down three times in the second round itself.
In what was his 17th professional fight, Love was able to display his counter-punching ability and power. Despite him dropping Diaz thrice, the referee let the fight go on and Diaz somehow survived the second round. Although he showed off his tough Mexican spirit, the end was near.
In the third round, Love continued the onslaught. He put Diaz against the ropes and unloaded a couple of combos.

“I was driving down there and I was nervous, it’s like an hour drive, and I was thinking ‘Oh, there’s gonna be all these cameras and all his boys, I really need to show up. We did three solid rounds and he caught me with some shots! He hit me with an uppercut and detached my top lip! He caught me with some s***! I was like ‘What the f***?'” Bostwick said about the incident.
