Just a few days ago, as Jake Paul and Conor McGregor shared a bus ride to Donald Trump’s Presidential inauguration, fans thought their rivalry had been mended for good. However, ‘The Problem Child’ once again shut down those hopes as he viciously took a shot at McGregor after PFL’s Road to Dubai Champions Series match between Paul Hughes and Usman Nurmagomedov.

‘The Notorious’ had been a huge supporter of his fellow Irishman. Sadly for McGregor, Hughes failed to capture the Bellator lightweight title in a 47-47, 48-46, 48-46 controversial majority decision win for the fighter from Dagestan. Jake Paul, who is an investor in the PFL and is also aiming to make his MMA debut later this year, applauded the ‘Big News’ performance. However, ‘El Gallo also saw it as a perfect opportunity to mock Conor McGregor and rub salt in the Irishman’s wounds.

Conor McGregor’s legacy surpassed?

After the main event, Jake Paul took to his ‘X’ and claimed that Hughes did something that ‘The Notorious’ was never able to do. He wrote, “Paul Hughes did what Conor McGregor couldn’t do. Congrats my guy. You won regardless of the outcome. Big ups to both men,” taking a direct dig at McGregor’s devastating loss to Usman’s cousin Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

The Paul Hughes vs. Usman Nurmagomedov was the last title bout in Bellator’s history as PFL is officially shutting down the Bellator brand in 2025 after their merger. PFL raised the stakes even further by dubbing the fight “Dagestan vs. Ireland 2,” referring to the McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov bout in 2018.

Khabib completely dominated with his superior grappling and secured a submission victory in the fourth round via a neck crank. Jake Paul’s post was a direct attack on McGregor as he claimed that Hughes rescued Ireland’s honor by never giving up and taking the fight its entire distance.

Jake Paul has shut down all the rumors regarding the duo making up with this tweet. However, even before the conclusion of the PFL, he took a sneaky dig at the former UFC dual champion and his current situation with the UFC.

Jake Paul is his own boss

On Saturday, Most Valuable Promotions teased a comeback fight for ‘El Gallo’ in 2025. Paul quoted the post and replied, “Unlike our fanboy, I call my own shots. Sit and wait until they tell you when you can fight. Announcement soon,” alluding to McGregor’s contract dispute with the UFC.

For a few months, the former two-division champion has been trying to secure boxing fights against several celebrity boxers. There were even reports of McGregor fighting Logan Paul in India for a whopping $250 million. However, UFC honcho Dana White dismissed all those rumors, claiming that Conor McGregor would make his return to the octagon and nowhere else.

White was adamant that the ‘Mystic Man’ would serve out his existing contract for two fights with the UFC before taking on any side quests. After all, he won’t let his cash cow graze elsewhere so easily.

It is not in Conor McGregor’s nature to take digs like these silently and it is just a matter of time before we will get a prompt reply. We just have to wait. However, as Jake Paul has once again decided to prompt up his digs at the UFC star, is there something brewing? Or is it just like their usual online banter? Let us know your thoughts down below.
