Jake Paul found himself looking for an alternative after Mike Tyson had to pull out of their scheduled 20th July bout in Arlington, Texas, because of health concerns! And the best replacement Paul could find was Bare Knuckle fighter and former UFC combatant Mike Perry. In a last-ditch effort, a smaller venue was confirmed and the fight against Perry was set for the same date.
Paul, a YouTube star turned professional boxer, is no stranger to facing off against UFC veterans, having sent the likes of Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz to the canvas. To that extent, Perry shouldn’t really be a challenge for ‘The Problem Child’. But what happens if Perry does the unthinkable by defeating Paul? Does the Mike Tyson fight fizzle away? UFC veteran Brendan Schaub says no! Here’s why!
Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson: The hype is too real!

Just the other day, Schaub, a standup comic, podcaster, and a UFC vet, appeared in his podcast Thiccc Boy, where his co-host probed him about what would happen if Paul loses the Perry fight and would it “screw over” the Mike Tyson fight? In response, Schaub explained, “Nope! People are so naive and just so like, ‘Paul-Tyson!’. I don’t think it does anything.”
It’s also worth mentioning that Jake Paul’s fight against Tyson has now been pushed to 15th November later this year, alongside the co-main event title fight featuring Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor. However, just like Paul, Serrano will also appear in the ring against Stevie Morgan for a non-title fight at the Amalie Arena in Tampa (new location). This is mainly done so that the fighters in the undercard of the July bout could get paid.
Regardless, Schaub believes the Perry fight won’t be an easy affair for Paul. So, the standup comic said, “Say what you want to say, that is a f**king risky move man.” In the meantime, Paul’s former UFC foe has shared some words of advice for his former UFC colleague, Mike Perry.

Tyron Woodley says Mike Perry knows what it’s like to fight Paul
See, the thing is, even though Perry and Paul would fight for the first time in the squared circle on July 20, it won’t be their first encounter. Yep, they have history! Back in 2021, the duo had spared each other, and a clip of the same has been making the rounds on the internet lately. Regardless, Tyron Woodley asked his friend and former colleague to watch out for these things.
In an interview with The Schmo on June 21, Woodley said, “Be composed and be patient. [Perry] knows what it’s like to spar Jake [Paul], he knows Jake will punch and stick and move.” Sharing his own experience facing Paul, Woodley revealed that Paul wasn’t trying to knock him down. Instead, Paul was moving around. So, he added, “I feel like that’s the part that Mike Perry has to look out for…”

If Jake Paul loses to Mike Perry, the Mike Tyson fight might not stop as Schaub said, but it will for sure cement fans’ belief in Tyson knocking out Paul later this year. Regardless, Paul is not an easy opponent, even with the success Perry has found in the bare-knuckle boxing scene. Do you think Mike Perry can beat Jake Paul?
