For almost two years, Carl Froch, the former unified super middleweight world champion, and Jake Paul, the YouTuber turned boxer, have actively engaged in a heated rivalry. ‘The Cobra’ has criticized Paul countless times for his fights and the former has tried to hit back just as often. The rivalry began when Froch issued a challenge to The Problem Child and promised to stop “all the hype around Jake Paul,” in 2023.

Since then, the British boxing veteran has repeatedly challenged the former YouTuber and, if we were to believe rumors, the duo came close to fighting many times. However, it never happened. Jake Paul is now in a bit of a slump in terms of opponents for the first time in his career. As the search for El Gallo’s next opponent is getting into a desperate category, a clip has surfaced, revealing how he might have missed a golden chance previously.

Karma strikes back at Jake Paul

A few days ago, on his YouTube channel, in order to lure out Jake Paul, the former world champion offered to fight him for charity. It was a perfect opportunity to call The Problem Child out, given the fact that his fight against Canelo Alvarez just got scrapped and he is looking for an opponent for May. Yesterday, Boxing Kingdom posted a video of Froch revealing that there were indeed negotiations between him and Paul’s camp previously.

“You might come to me now asking me for a fight. But instead of me giving them loads of sh*ts and everyone saying I’m calling him out. But I have already said when I stand by it that I will fight Jake Paul for free,” stated Froch confidently. Well, at this point it is not clear whether the video shared is old or new, but the claims made by Froch certainly put things into perspective.

In the clip, Froch was taking part in a video call with several boxing insiders, including Big John and Robert James. The Nottingham native revealed that Paul’s “team came on and said okay,” for the fight. They even agreed to fight Froch for charity. He claimed that Jake Paul’s team reiterated that “If you’re going to fight for free, then it’s got to be, all your money is in charity, and any affiliations, any everything you make from the fights has got to go into charity.”

What’s your perspective on:

Did Jake Paul dodge a bullet by avoiding Carl Froch, or is he missing a golden opportunity?

Have an interesting take?

For Carl Froch, it was no big deal, as he already had agreed to the conditions. He asked MVP to “send the contract,” and he “will get it signed.” He didn’t let the opportunity pass by and claimed to “knock Jake Paul’s teeth down the back of his throat.” However, the fight discussions never moved past this as “They went quiet,” and Froch never received a contract.

If what the Nottingham native said is true, the situation is starkly similar to what happened between Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul in the past few days. It looks like the recent incident was a wake-up call for The Problem Child as he is trying to amend his mistakes.

Back to the drawing board now

It looks like the deception by Canelo Alvarez has forced Jake Paul and his team to reconsider. They are now back to the drawing board and are trying to find a replacement for the May fight. It looks like they are now ready to reconsider the offer by Carl Froch. Earlier today, Boxing Kingdom took to their ‘X’ and revealed that, “Jake Paul’s team is now OPEN to the possibility of fighting Carl Froch next‼️.” While it is just a rumor at this point, given how the last few days have gone, nothing would be surprising anymore.

However, it doesn’t look like it would be a fight for charity like ‘The Cobra’ claimed. According to a January 6 report from talkSport, Paul’s advisor Nakisa Bidarian has responded to Froch’s challenge. They did not want a charity fight and aimed to meet the financial expectations. Given that ‘El Gallo reportedly earned $40 million for his last fight, this is understandable. Without a financial incentive, it seems, Jake Paul doesn’t see the point in fighting the 47-year-old.

In a conversation with The Sun, Bidarian claimed, “Sure Carl, show up with an offer that makes sense. Since he’s fighting for charity anyways, show up with an offer that makes sense for MVP and Jake Paul.” The MVP co-founder questioned the former boxer’s ability to generate interest. “If and when they’re ready to show us an offer… and that it is an eight-figure opportunity for Jake Paul… happy to have the conversation.”

However, they have now thrown all those plans out of the window. Because it doesn’t look like Carl Froch has somehow brought in an 8-figure deal in just two days. What do you think? Let us know your thoughts down below.
