Can Jake Paul handle the heat from Mike Tyson, or is he biting off more than he can chew?

“I started Jake off, and I’m going to finish him,” Mike Tyson proclaimed during the press meet for his upcoming Jake Paul fight. The bout, which was initially supposed to take place on July 20, was later postponed to November 15, due to a medical emergency induced by a stomach ulcer on a flight. Notably, Paul made his professional debut on the undercard of the Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr. exhibition fight in 2020. Now, Tyson wishes to put an end to Paul’s professional journey in front of a sold-out crowd at the 80,000-seater AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Meanwhile, Jake Paul is coming off a dominant win against Mike Perry at the end of last month. During the in-ring interview following his sixth-round TKO victory over Mike Perry, ‘The Problem Child’ confidently said, “It’s an honor to get in the ring with you [Mike Tyson]. I’m so, so honored, you’re a legend. But I’m going to take your throne, brother.”

However, several boxing commentators and analysts have expressed concern for Mike Tyson’s well-being, considering that there will be a 31-year age gap between the two fighters when they meet inside the ring later this year. The fear is that although Tyson might retain his punching power, his reflexes would be much slower than the former Disney star, increasing the risk of ‘Iron Mike’ getting badly hurt in the fight. Add that to the list of Tyson’s issues with sciatica, which flares up now and then, and it looks concerning for Tyson. Simultaneously, it won’t be outside the realm of possibility for ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ to pull off a miracle, and knock out ‘The Problem Child’. So how is he preparing for the upcoming challenge? Positive visualization! Or in this case, a morbid visualization.

Mike Tyson has already started the countdown for Jake Paul’s “wake” earmarked for November 15. Starting his count on August 6, 2024, there are precisely only “101” days left for the much-anticipated eight-round heavyweight bout in November. Tyson shared the screengrab on his Instagram story with the caption, “@JakePaul can’t wait.” Meanwhile, Paul responded to Tyson’s grim countdown with flushed-face emojis on his own Instagram story, expressing his excitement, or rather concern for the upcoming fight.

Meanwhile, Mike Tyson revealed his desire to have a psychedelic experience before he goes into the squared circle to face Jake Paul.

DMT Trip to the rescue!

Tyson’s love affair with psychedelics is very well-known. Reportedly, he has ingested psychedelic substances close to over a hundred times, and he wouldn’t mind a spiritual experience before his return to the ring. Tyson told Esquire Magazine that he is planning to ingest a drug derived from the poison of the Sonoran Desert toad known as 5-MeO-DMT for a one-way trip to meet God.

He was even seen consuming four grams of magic mushrooms on Logan Paul’s podcast Impulsive in 2020. Talking about the drug’s positive influence, Tyson said, “It makes you pretty objective for what’s really going on and mushrooms really tell you that you’re nothing. Even the mushrooms in the daytime, you take in, and the earth starts moving. You look at the ground, it’s moving. You look at the plants and the trees, they’re moving. They’re doing something. It’s absolutely insane.”

Only time will tell if the psychedelic experience he is planning to have will have any positive effect on the Jake Paul fight. It just might be that it will help activate Mike Tyson’s “I’m Alexander” mode, and help the knockout artist add Jake Paul to his famed KO record.
