YouTube sensation Jake Paul has managed to successfully transition into boxing from being a social media celebrity. He has faced some of the best names in MMA, including Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley. Moreover, he is now ready to take on former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in his next fight on October 29th.
Since his transition to boxing, many have called out The Problem Child for not facing a ‘real’ boxer. However, it seems like Paul has taken this quite seriously as he is planning to step foot into the ring with one of the best boxers of our generation, Canelo Alvarez.

Jake Paul gives a realistic timeline for a bout with Canelo Alvarez
In an interview with ES NEWS, the Ohio-based boxer revealed that he does have plans to take on Alvarez and also gave a realistic timeline on when the bout could take place.
“I think in the next couple of years. I think even recently he said he was going to start to do some more like crossover style fights so we could see that in the next couple of years,” said Paul.
Moreover, he stated that he needed at least 2 to 3 years of training to compete with the Mexican boxer and is confident that he can beat him. “I need to get my skill up, I need to stay in the gym for 2, 3 years and I’ll be able to be in the ring and share the ring with Canelo Alvarez and I think I can beat him.” He added.

This is certainly a long wait for the fans, who were eagerly anticipating Paul to face some good competition. However, even after 2-3 years of training, it is highly doubtful that he could take on the likes of Alvarez, although it might be an exciting fight for fans.
Jake Paul compares himself to Dmitry Bivol
The Problem Child not only thinks he could beat Alvarez but also compared himself to the man who actually beat the Mexican boxer. In an interview with Talksport, Paul stated that Alvarez’s unbeatable mystique was shattered after his loss to Dmitry Bivol.

He then claimed that he also possessed similar power and speed to the Russian boxer. “I still think Canelo and I is one of the biggest fights to be made in boxing. I know I could beat him. People laugh at that, but Dmitry Bivol showed he is very beatable and I have a style, range, speed, and power similar to Bivol.” he said.
Paul could see himself on the level of these world champions, but is he really there? Both Alvarez and Bivol are world-class boxers miles ahead of Paul in terms of skill and experience.
