Jake Paul can't remember Perry's best shot—Is he losing his edge or just playing it cool?

Stepping in the ring to fight can be a harrowing experience! So much so that some boxers often forget what happened in the ring—it’s like they are on autopilot. Something similar seems to have happened to Jake Paul during his fight against Mike Perry last weekend at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, as Paul revealed—he doesn’t remember the best shot Perry landed on him that night.

‘The Problem Child’ battered and shattered ‘Platinum’, knocking down the BKFC fighter three times during their skirmish en route to a sixth round stoppage victory. Even though Perry landed a few shots on Paul, he mostly acted as a punching bag. Despite this, when Paul’s co-host asked him about the best shot from Perry during the BS w/ Jake Paul podcast, ‘El Gallo’ was at a loss for words.

Jake Paul remembers nodding at Mike Perry

After defeating Perry, Paul had called out Alex Pereira to fight after Mike Tyson—which will happen in November this year. So, while speaking about his desire to fight the UFC champion after Tyson, one of Paul’s co-host probed him about the best shot from Perry. Either because of the limited amount of blows from Perry or because Paul was focused on his own performance, Paul revealed he doesn’t remember.

“I don’t remember which one it was, but it was when I like nodded at him like good shot but I don’t remember what it was”, said the younger Paul brother. Interestingly, Paul had the higher volume of punches thrown and landed in all the six rounds. In fact, CompuBox also revealed Paul also landed and threw more jabs. Also, not to forget, Paul also led the charts for landing and throwing power punches.

All in all, Paul landed 96 punches on the BKFC champion while the latter managed to get back up from all their knockdowns to answer with mere 33 punches that landed. However, now the question is, which was the best shot Jake Paul landed on Perry?

When asked about his best shot on Perry, the former Disney star responded, stating, “The jab was just on fire. [But] I was watching Oscar De La Hoya vs. Ike Quartey before the fight today”. Ike Quartey’s fantastic jab seems to have inspired Paul, who said “I embodied that” and went in for the fight “with the left hand blazing”.

It’s worth noting that Quartey lost his fight against Oscar De La Hoya in 1999 with a close split decision. Despite Quartey’s narrow defeat, Paul exuded confidence leading up to his fight with Perry. He revealed that he had told Perry beforehand that the match would be easy work for him. Paul went on to claim that he had manifested this confident attitude, turning his words into reality through his performance in the ring.

Jake Paul might not remember the best shot Mike Perry landed on him, but he did remember his training, which was the major reason Paul made easy work of the BKFC champion. Which punch do you think was the best from Perry and Paul?
