‘The Problem Child’ seems quite confident in taking on all the ‘Mikes’ in the world. So what if the much-anticipated fight with ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson has been pushed for a November date? Jake Paul forged ahead and will now face Mike Perry. The YouTuber-turned-boxer appears quite certain about finishing the bare-knuckle fighter early in their fight on July 20.

But the Flint, Michigan-born mixed martial artist doesn’t believe so. A few days ago, the two spoke with each other, and needless to say, the conversation soon turned heated. How the fight would eventually end became the focal point of the discussion. Both claim a quick end to the argument when they eventually meet at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Earlier, Paul had a fight scheduled with Mike Tyson on the same day, but at Cowboys Stadium. Unfortunately, the fight had to be canceled and postponed as concerns mounted over Tyson’s health after he met with a mid-air health scare.

It was in the middle of the conversation that Jake Paul found it hard to believe when the bare-knuckle fighter took a guess on how much he would have weighed: “220–215; maybe less since we’re two weeks out; you might be 212.” But Perry assured that it doesn’t matter since he has sparred with heavier fighters in the past.

Jake Paul, then smiling over the details ‘Platinum’ provided about his coach, asked, “You still haven’t given an official prediction? I’ve been asking.” Mike Perry replied, “I did, seventh round. I said seventh round. I’mma knock you out. I can’t do it. Maybe I might do it faster. I might do it faster. You think otherwise.

‘The Problem Child’ assured him that it would be one of the ‘quickest’ nights of the latter’s professional career since he would dispatch him way immediately after the fight began. He will have nothing better to do besides go to ‘sleep’. Perry responded back that the sequence may actually be happening with the Ohioan and not him, as he would knock him out.

Jake Paul offering $500K to Mike Perry—Is this confidence or pure arrogance?

Jake Paul then held Mike Perry to a challenge: “Hey if you make it to the seventh round, I’ll give you 500 thousand dollars.” It might be confusing to many fans whether Paul is serious about the wager or just joking around. However, if the fight extends beyond seven rounds, even if he loses, Mike Perry can hold Jake Paul to his word and demand the half a million dollars once the fight wraps up.

Edge to Paul, or is it a ‘Platinum’ problem?

Earlier, the talk began with Jake Paul and Mike Perry going at each other over the pro-boxing records. The latter told ‘The Problem Child’ how out of the ten fights he has fought so far, only four were against professional boxers.

Paul countered the check with the way he had dealt with MMA fighters such as Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, or, for that matter, Anderson Silva. When the ‘Platinum’ assured that he wouldn’t be making the mistakes legends like Silva made when they fought Paul. “You make so many mistakes, Mike; you can’t get out of the way of any punches; you don’t have any head movement,” insisted the Ohioan. Then the discussion converged on how they thought the fight would eventually end. Given that it appeared way too heavy, Mike insisted that he would ‘overwhelm’ him with pressure and speed.

It’s not that Mike is completely devoid of any professional boxing experience. But the only fight that he has participated in thus far happened nine years ago! That too ended up in a knockout loss. So Jake Paul stands a better chance of winning this fight. One key difference where ‘The Problem Child’ seems to have departed from the convention is the relatively young age of Perry. He can boast of his bare-knuckle boxing experience, where he remains unbeaten. But when it comes to the gloves, the game entirely changes and the Ohioan seems to have an edge over the Florida native.

What is your take? Do you think Jake Paul will have to eat his words and end up shelling out the $500,000?
