Boxing changed Jake Paul’s life for the better. At least, that’s what he claims! “Boxing saved me. I was in a super dark place in my life. I lacked discipline, lacked routine, lacked community, lacked passion, lacked progress. Boxing gave me all of those things,” the YouTuber-turned-boxer confessed once in an interview. But, a few years into training for the sport, some pressing issues remained unaddressed. “Something was wrong with me…I have anxiety..” Paul confessed to his guest Paul Saladino, a certified MD, and a popular health influencer, in his podcast show BS w/ Jake Paul. As revealed by the former Disney star, his abysmal blood report made him turn his attention to one important but overlooked aspect of his life- his gut health. This prompted Paul to focus his attention on his diet.
The quest to fix his eating habits brought the ‘Problem Child’ into the world of ‘Liver King’, a controversial fitness influencer known for promoting a bizarre “ancestral lifestyle” that involves consuming loads of raw unprocessed meat. Despite the Liver King being caught using steroids in a YouTube expose in 2022, the masculinity influencer Brian Johnson’s controversial organ-gorging diet was a life-saver for Jake Paul.

The cutting-edge science of today connects your gut health to your mental health. A visit to the doctor following his second professional fight against Nate Robinson in 2020 made Jake Paul cognizant of the bitter reality of his poor gut health. Despite being able to perform to the peak of his athletic abilities, he sensed that something was wrong as he was still feeling anxious all the time. “I go to a doctor and it turns out like – low testosterone, high estrogen, pre-diabetic, liver is f**ked up, blood-brain barrier impaired, like the list goes…high cholesterol. Doctor was like this is one of the worst blood I’ve ever seen in my life like I don’t even know how you’re functioning,” the Ohio native recalled on his show.
While the online world offers a wealth of information on healthy eating, it’s also saturated with self-proclaimed experts promoting potentially unrealistic dietary changes. However, Liver King’s diet found a proponent in Jake Paul who said that his life changed after following his “nine-ancestral tenets”.
“When I like found liver King and that sort of f**k… like really changed my f**king life like damn near I still have anxiety but it’s like almost gone because of all of these things…..a lot of his nine ancestral tenants are amazing and it’s like a lot of the things that you could follow from what he said like cuz I started eating raw liver I started doing everything and so it truly truly helped me,” Jake Paul admitted.
However, it is important to mention that Liver King’s carnivore diet has its fair share of detractors who have poked holes in his meal plan. To make things worse, his credibility has been smashed to smithereens owing to his admission of steroid usage after months of lying about not being on them. “Yes, I’ve done steroids. And yes, I’m on steroids, monitored and managed by a trained hormone clinician,” he revealed on his own YouTube channel in 2022.
Nonetheless, Liver King’s ripped physique tainted by steroids shouldn’t take away from the purported benefits of Johnson’s paleolithic lifestyle, according to ‘The Problem Child’.
Are we throwing the baby out with the bathwater?
In the same conversation with Saladino, speaking about Liver King’s steroid scandal, Jake said, “When that happened I was like f**k dude like cuz the world needs these things and now they’re just going to get rid of it and not care about it.”

Responding to Jake’s comment, Saladino, who knew Brian Johnson before he peaked for his YouTube persona as Liver King, said, “They’ll dismiss it without considering it anymore. I think that at his core Brian is a human like the rest of us and has demons and has wounds and he just needed that sort of social media attention or needed to like take the steroids to look big.”

In a detailed expose’, Derek from the popular YouTube Channel More Plates More Dates, showed a series of leaked private emails where Johnson allegedly stated that he was blowing around $11,000 a month on steroids. Well, social media hype does add a lot of pressure to stay relevant. It was a move out of desperation to keep up his muscular appearance. But, can the Liver King’s opinions be taken seriously after being popped for steroids? Well, he continues to espouse the same lifestyle habits as he did before on his channel, but to a much smaller audience than before.
Nonetheless, have you tried Liver King’s carnivore diet? Has it helped for you? Do you agree with Jake Paul’s opinion of Liver King? Let us know in the comment section below.
