Ryan Garcia was ready to step in to fill in for Mike Tyson, after the legendary boxer’s medical scare on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles last weekend. Garcia even sent Jake Paul a message on Instagram with his offer. Fans have been concerned about Tyson going into this fight considering his age and health and after the recent incident there were concerns whether the fight will take place.

Earlier, some fans had already rallied to express their discontent about the bout, given the enormous 30-year age gap, the highest in professional boxing history, between the two fighters. After reports of Tyson’s illness emerged, Garcia turned to his Instagram handle and offered to step in if the former heavyweight champion couldn’t compete. He posted a screengrab of him texting Jake Paul on Instagram about his willingness to fight. But Jake Paul assured everyone that the status of his scheduled fight with Tyson hasn’t changed.

Taking to X, ‘The Problem Child’ posted, You love to make shit up before knowing the facts for clicks / likes. Nothing changed #PaulTyson.”

Paul also responded to Garcia’s offer and wrote, “Don’t listen to every Twitter news article. Me and Mike are fighting July 20th. Everyone is trying to do everything they can to hurt this fight and attack me. You should know about that.”

According to various reports, Tyson had become nauseous and dizzy because of an ulcer flare-up, which led to the medical emergency. Touch Weekly reported that the passengers had heard an announcement about medical professionals before the flight with Tyson landed. this raised concern among fans whether Tyson would be in ideal health for his bout against Jake Paul.

The 57-year-old boxer’s representatives later tossed the rumors to the bin as an official statement read, “Thankfully Mr Tyson is doing great.” Infact, Tyson himself came out with an update just 48-hours after the health scare.

“Now feeling 100% even though I don’t need to be to beat Jake Paul,” Tyson tweeted. Still, there are apprehensions about the legendary American boxer’s health and preparations leading up to the fight.

While Tyson has appeared with a shredded physique due to his dietary shifts, including eating raw meat and training for hours in the gym, worries about his safety would persist because of the 30-year age difference between him and his opponent. It’s not just fans who think this way.

Hours after reports of Tyson’s medical emergency spread, New York State Boxing Hall of Fame (NYSBHOF) matchmaker Rick Glaser also revealed his apprehensions regarding the fight going ahead. Mentioning Mike Tyson, Jake Paul, and the Texas Boxing Commission in an X post, Glaser wrote, “#MikeTyson shouldn’t be fighting any longer against anyone, including #JakePaul.” Glaser didn’t stop there. He further rebuked Paul for choosing Tyson as his opponent and said the former should be “embarrassed” by what has happened.

The bout which will be streamed live on Netflix on July 20, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX has also seen concerns raised by former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. He criticized the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations for officially sanctioning the fight and feared Tyson may end up worse during or after the fight.

After all this, whether the Brooklyn native could take a punch is a pressing question, as a couple of old visuals of him walking with a cane and in a wheelchair have flooded the internet. Moreover, Paul, 27, is coming off two first-round KO wins. Will the YouTuber-turned-prizefighter bring his aggressive fight plan into the match? It seems so.
