Former UFC Welterweight champion and long-time rival of Jake Paul, Tyron Woodley might just face his nemesis for the third time. Paul is set to face former UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, on October 29th. However, it seems that Woodley is flying to Arizona as the backup fighter.
In an Instagram story, Woodley claimed that he is currently weighing in at 193 lbs. This is just 6 pounds more than the catchweight limit of 187 lbs for the fight. If needed, Woodley, who has a plethora of experience in cutting weight from his days in the UFC, could easily make the limit. Woodley competed in the welterweight division that had a weight limit of 170lbs, which is far lower than the catch weight limit for this bout.

“Weighed 193 today. Guess I’ll be flying to Arizona today. Send the Pj #third timesacharm” wrote Woodley. If either fighter pulls out of the fight we could very well see “The Chosen One’ compete in their place.

Woodley made an appearance on MMA Fighting’s The Fighter vs. The Writer, where he shared his thoughts on Paul. According to him, the Ohio-based boxer was just a ‘kid’ with a lot of money and very few responsibilities. “I know a lot of people want to see Jake Paul get beat up and see him taught a lesson like a bully on a playground. But he really is a kid, not very much responsibility, no financial limitations, energy, he makes everything a bucket list, a challenge,” he said.
However, he added that people should not underestimate Paul, claiming that he had the power to shut anyone’s lights out. “He’s training his a*s off. He’s got KO power, and he’s learned to throw that particular punch that he’s got timing on.” Woodley added. ‘The Chosen One’ does have firsthand experience of what it feels like to be in the ring with Paul, and his praise of the YouTuber might be justified.
