Paul’s girlfriend, Jutta Leerdam, the Olympic silver medalist, and also the 6-time World Champion in Speedskating, clinched the fourth Dutch sprint title at the National Sprint Championship. Leerdam defeated Chloe Hoogendoorn—just a day before her birthday—and celebrated the milestone with ‘El Gallo’, who was present to cheer for her. Talking about the same, Leerdam—who flaunts 4.9 million social media followers on Instagram—said during an episode of Netflix’s ‘Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson’, “Jake sent me a DM on Instagram and asked if I wanted to be on his podcast. When he hit me up me online, I thought, ‘What an arrogant (expletive). He thinks he can do anything, but he won’t get me.’ I never expected to date him…We really connected in these two crazy worlds on a super personal, deep level. Since then we have been inseparable.”

Mostly in a long distance relationship due to their strict training schedules, Leerdam revealed how Paul’s over-the-top online persona is a farce. “He’s not an idiot in real life. He’s just different in front of the cameras. You’re just the sweetest guy ever and I want to expose you one day,” she told Paul. “It’s so different seeing you on video, your personality there online compared to everywhere else.”

To this, Paul had responded: “I feel like I’m the same,” prompting his girlfriend to say, “”No, no you are not. Definitely not. You’re actually a little bit more introverted in real life. You’re more chill. You’re like sweet and genuine and more vulnerable and like emotionally open. I’ve never seen that in a guy. I’ve never seen a guy that’s so open. It’s actually manly that you can show your emotions and I think that’s really beautiful.”
